My co-worker's brother in law has a garage he recently built complete with a lift, and once he gets it cleared off he's going to let me use it to install headers and exhaust on my Mustang, probably next week. I asked him what he'd want as far as "rent" and he said he had no clue, he figured he'd just take a donation. I'm just using the lift, otherwise I'm bringing all my own tools and such..
Suggestions? I want to be fair, but not over generous, lol. Student loan payments start next month. :guilty:
Thanks!

Personally, I would not rent my lift period. If something happened, God forbid, my homeowners would cover damages if I let you use it, but if I rented it to you, that is a whole different ballgame.

I kind of agree. Shop overhead were I work is $66 an hour including the two mechanics salaries. So I would say $20 and hour would be fair.

Bill has a valid point about renting versus just letting you use it. Slip him some money or buy him diner. just do not make it anything official. I figure you're probably not but just to be on the safe side.

Beer is the currency for my lift. Oil change is a shared six pack. Bolt on mods are a 12 pack. Overnight - bring a full case. :)

That is about my going rate for mine....
Being that you are his brother in law's co-worker I am surprised he is even thinking about it, but if he just got it he is probably just stoked about letting someone use it.....
I personally limit mine to immediate friends which means guys who stop over or call me other than just to use the rack!!!
I have been known to put a my car on the rack and drop the rear end out just to fend them away......
