so i was thinking the other day i would like some side marker lamps on my car so it will be seen better at night. i do not want holes in the fenders or 1/4's so i was thinking of LED's in the side of the bumper, maybe like 3 or 4 in a row on the bottom side of the front and rear bumpers, amber in the front red in the rear. what do you guys think? i was thinking of wireing them up so they are marker lamps but also flash with the turn signal since the harness i am useing is out of an 02' camaro thats how they are on it so it would be easy to do.

Yes but one problem...

You'll need to find a special resistor to run the leds 1/2 power for parking light, and full power for turn signal, hazard. You cant control the the brightness of an LED of the parking/turn wires. I wired my interior with all blue LED's and the dome, and dash lights wont dim when i turn the knob down, unless i get a turn/park resistor made for LED lights.

Think of it this way, once an LED gets its 12v source, its at its full brightness, and when you put your blinker on its not gonna get any brighter, it wont even flash, because when it increases the volts to turn the turn signals on its still gonna be the same amount of brightness.

Dont get me wrong i love the idea, im thinking about smoothing my corner lights and putting a different sytle in with LEDs behind it, but you might want to check into this first.

the way the 2002 side marker lamp/turn signals work is they are full power at all times and when the signal is turned on they flash on and off. there is a front turn lamp and a side turn lamp and they flash opposit of each other. seen here with marker lamps on http://aolsearch.aol.com/aol/redir?src=image&clickedItemURN=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bobmcdormanchevrol et.com%2F02camaro.jpg&moduleId=image_details.jsp.M&clickedItemDescription=Image Details and here with DRL lamps on http://www.bobmcdormanchevrolet.com/98camaro6.jpg you can tell that the one lamp is out in the second picture. if i lost you i can try and make more sence of what i said:rolleyes:

cliffs notes: side marker lamps are full 12v and either on or off never dim.
