i'm getting ready to order my wheels for the camaro but changed plans from 17" inch front rim to 18's, i want to run a 255 at least, i looked in the wheel data base and there is two cars with a 18x8 and a 18x8.5 and both have a 245 on them, i'm not worried about the fender wells as i will be making new ones so if anybody has some back spacing numbers that would help alot :icon996:

With 18's you have some options which means you need to address some questions:
1) Is your car painted? In other words are you still in a position to roll your wheelwell lips?
2) Have you relocated your shocks inboard? In the stock location they should fit inside 18" diameter wheels. But I moved my shocks inboard back when I had a set of wacky Wheel Vintiques 17" rally wheels, so I can't tell you for sure--but stock shocks will almost definitely fit inside 18's.

Based on those variables (and a few other measurements) you may be able to fit up to a 10" wheel (actually 11" wide overall). I have 18"x10" wheels with 5.25" (maybe it's 5.5"?) backspacing mounted on 285/35 Nitto tires. So you should be able to fit an 18"x8" or 18"x9" wheel no problem. I would consider an 18"x9" with 5" backspacing on a 275 tire. Based on my measurements, you will have plenty of tire to lip clearance.

I'd hate to see you run an 8 with a 245 and then wish you had more wheel and tire. So take some measurements and remember that 18's are more forgiving than 17's or smaller.

Just by chance what wheel are you ordering? I am thinking of increasing from a 8 to a 9.5...... Budnik Fat Lip Fontana

steve are we talking about front shocks? i may have not made it very clear that thats what i was talking about now if you are talking about the front then this is very good news for me. no the car is not painted yet, and also i have the full DSE front kit (tube upper and lower arms and coil-over kit) so if that will make a differance, the rear is mini-tubed. i am getting Budnik Famosa dish 18x12 5.5 bs and what ever 18" front wheel we decide on here.

Whoa. No, I thought you were talking about the rear. Front is a different story. In the front, an 8"/4.5" to 4.75" wheel is tight and 245 is as wide as I'd go when running a stock clip (no C4 or C5 parts).

Sorry, I thought you were talkin about the rear. I was refering to the lower shock mounts in the rear interfering with wheels when pushing the limits of width and backspace.

My 67 is mini tubbed and I have 18x12 w/6.5" BS (335/30-18). My rearend measures 57" from wheel mounting pad to wheel mounting pad. On the front I have 17x8 w/5.25" BS (255/40-17). Now my car does not have the front clip on it yet, so I may have some massaging to do......
