Any thoughts on this modern day lacquer paint? Is this stuff any good? Looks like a good alternative for the DIYer or someone on a tight buget like me.

In an episode of Trucks they painted a Bronco for about 120 bucks. Looked great but they did use 3 coats of clear. Any feedback would be appreciated.

man i was lookin at that paint once. i cant give an opinion, but i will say it seems as though pure vision, aka steve stroppe is a paid endorsee for dupli-color products. you here all the time where he uses there rattle cans and just pulls it off. Dan

being in the painting side of the industry for 20 yrs, and painting lacquer even in the late 80's & 90's, I spray 99% urethane paints now. Having said that, haven't heard about the "new" lacquers. the old lacquers were good for fast, cheap, and very user friendly. however, not very durable. It all depends on what you want to do, could get you some experience with paint work, if you are going to redo it down the road, all that lacquer paint will have to come off before you do a full blown urethane job. Ever heard of a house built on sand? same thing w/lacquer, not stable, won't harden, not a good idea to put thermoset ( 2 part, product and hardener , ie; stable) over a thermoplastic ( 1 part,no hardner, ie; unstable will melt if reducer pour on it, no matter how long it has dried) These are the main pros and cons, it is up to you. Thanks for the advice that's all I needed to know. I guess there is no such thing as a good cheap paint job. Can anyone say oxymoron.
