Are we next? lol

I hope Tony and John made a bundle.. I would guess it sold for around $500k, based on revenue, but that's just a guess.

I guess this same company bought a bunch of forums including CorvetteForum.

I expect Tony to have a super badass PT car now. ;)

That's some crazy money.

If Larry sells he'll finally be able to finish that Camaro of his.

...unless the wife wants a new house. LOL!!!

Unless it's like Bill says "Stupid money" LOL!

I really do enjoy the site.

Congrats Tony and gang. That took a lot of time and work to build it as large as it is. I still can't imagine a board that size.

I feel the same as so many people on LS1tech and that is that I hope Tony and John got a hell of a lot for money for their site. Congrats for sure.

good for Tony, I hope he did good on the sale (financially)
and Larry doesn't need to sell this site to finish his Camaro...he just needs to start working on it again :poke:

At what.. $150 a month?

Do the math :)

Here's the math......

$150 x 150 = $22,500 a month

Around $270,000 a year.

Well...that settles it, folks. We're all officially in the wrong business.

yes we are, who wants to start a forum with me ?!?

Starting an internet forum is cheap and easy. Having a subject of interest that a LARGE number of people find interesting AND are willing to spend their time each and every day to visit is DIFFICULT!

The rate of website failures or just plain unprofitable websites is LARGE so when you see a site that's successful it is usually one of very few that cover that specific subject that IS successful. Obviously given the LARGE memebership numbers at LS1tech, there are a LOT more people interested in LSX engines than PT cars.

Advertising is where it's at! More hits on the site, more advertisers, MO MONEY! See it's really not that hard after all!

IF those numbers are anywhere close to reality they got more than $500K.

Try $225/month :smoke:

Thanks for the congrats everyone, and the compliments about the site. When we started it in Nov 2001, we had no idea that it would grow as quickly as it did. We had reached the growth potential of the company, as our revenues could not support a full time staff to run it on the front end or tech side of things. With the acquisition, we gain an entire IT staff, dedicated sales, accounting, invoicing, legal, customer service, etc... group to see the site reach higher levels.

We are still operating/managing LS1Tech, but I'm also looking into other things to invest in. I'd like to get out of the offshore oil/gas industry someday soon :twothumbs

That isn't what I meant. I do very well in the offshore oil/gas industry, but my passion has always been cars. I'd like to do something full-time related to cars.

I can imagine the cost of bandwidth a site of that size uses. That's got to cost some money just to host that site in itself...

Congrats! Well deserved.

That was a great post. Privacy concerns, ha. Oh no, they might share my yahoo mail account. LOL

Edit: "the owners still have a tiny share, tied closely with revenue projections and goals." Sounds like you might have gotten some equity too? If so, that is great.

Well if you need someone to fill your spot in your current job......of course I'd prefer to stay in CA as opposed to TX.

Congrats. Ain't America great?

LS1tech.com has gotten painfully slow in the past few days to the point that I have given up several times. Looks like the new owners have some wrinkles to work out.

The search has always been kinda slow. But then that website has like a kabillion threads that are loaded with information. You type "camshaft" into the search and you might start a reactor meltdown at the building that houses the server.

225 a month is cheap for advertsing, ESPECIALLY with the dedicated audience that your product is getting.

Ever price the yellow pages? try 1200-1600/month.

Nice job...good luck.

we apologize for the slowness and search issues. Those were put on hold until we migrated the website from our servers to the new owner's servers. That happened this past week. Now we have the fun of watching the loads and optimizing the server settings to get the speeds back up. After that, we will upgrade the current software to the latest release of VBulletin, and then the newly developed search feature will be implemented. None of this was possible to do until we got onto the new servers.

It will probably be on/off slow for the next two-three weeks while we dial it in and make the updates.

there are a few sticky threads in the user support forum that address this.
