View Full Version : Anyone use Heidt's narrowed control arms

Has anyone used these on a first gen?
If so any clearance issues?
The offset on my front wheels is not set in enough to get the car as low as I would like. I am thinking this may solve the problem.
It will move the tire in 1 inch per side.
I bought the wheels used and should have checked the offset better.
Thanks,
Brian

the idea that any one would have come up with this method of fixing the wrong offset is way off base, you would be far better off getting the right wheel than spending the money on control arms that are going to rake havoc with you front geometry.

Do they actually mess up the geometry?
Is this a fact?
Even with the right offset I would still like to narrow the track width.
After market sub would acheive this but much more expensive.

well it will increase scrub radius= bad
shorter arms = loosing the sway bar mount= bad
change in pivot point location = change in geometry ( the wrong way)
steering arm location change= in this case increase in bumpsteer=bad
and I'm sure you can buy 2 correct offset wheels for what you will pay for the set of control arms

Yes,the narrow arms will mess up the geometry and cause other issues as well. If anythign we want to increase the track on these older cars to improve the scrub radius, not narrow it. You can achieve whatever wheel clearance changes you want with a change in backspacing. BTW,we`re not busting your chops, just trying to help you put together the best car you can. Mark SC&C
