Well.... I ain't no Kris Horton....

I was playing in Visio and drew my car to get an idea of what different paint combo's. I am still not sure.
The most positive feedback has been on the red with stripes.
But I really like the 2 tone...

Comments... Suggestions?

I say it's a toss up between (A) or (D) :bananna2:

what he said, but I lean towards D myself.

I like A, B and D. But, I'm a bad person to ask about paint. I've changed my mind on my car a million times.

A) Reminds me too much of Kris' car...it's been done, but looks good!! :)

B) A little too busy...

C) Looks classic and clean, but you basically have that now...

D) I say go with this w/ faded stripes like you show in the drawing...I like it a lot!! And that's coming from a guy that doesn't particularly like black camaros...:)

Why don't you paint it up like a '75 Rally Sport? :smoke: . I'm just kidding of course.
I like the paint scheme in drawing D. The stripes fadeing in and out really set it off.

I like the look of D alot, but try a split bumper to free up that great grill opening. This alone will fill the hearts of your future victims with soul rending terror as they watch you consume the distance between you and their rear bumpers!

I like A myself, even though I painted mine like D except with blue stripes

What version of Visio did you use to draw your examples?

Piet

I started with Visio 5.0...
Now I am on Visio Professional 2002 SP2.

I didn't use anything fancy, just line and arc and fill shading.
Drawing the car the first time was hard... (I took a picture then "traced" it)

I have had the 2 tone on my destop for a while... it's really growing on me.

I've never seen B. which means both; I like it because it's different, and their might be a reason.

I vote B.

Here are some kinda iffy photochops...

I like design A. But I believe you need to focus on what you want to emphasize. Paint much like makeup can hide or emphasize something.

If the stripes were by their self and were centered off the grill this would bring the focus of the car and emphasize the grill. There is more depth in the front body of those then in the 1st gen. So if you don’t want to emphasize those lines so much on the hood grill etc then go with the 2 tone like A.

I think if you wanted to go with the strip / 2 tone combo then I would switch the 2 stripes into a single 1 stripe which would be based off the grill width and body lines of the hood. It would start not right after the hood but soon after it.

I am thinking of adding a 2" cowl hood as well.... definately think the stripes would make it too busy. I don't really want an all black car...so.

I think I am between (A) and (C)

Between those two I'd say A. Could always do ghost stripes in the black.

I agree.... I think I am totally sold on (A)..

I don't remember where I found this picture... but these stripes are cool.

That hood reminds me of the "Overhaulin" Chevelle.

I'm pretty sure that hood IS from the Overhaulin' Chevelle.

Without a doubt. Foose did a great job on those stripes.

You need to look on page 12 of the March 2005 Popular Hot Rodding. Maybe a version of the late '70s rs paint job. FRANK.

Oh, B is my vote...just get a little more creative with the stripes and maybe find some color or graphic to break up seperation of the two tones...I really like B alot. If you don't use it, I'm stealing it for the next car :icon_razz

My only fear with "b" is that it will look too busy... I want a 2" cowl hood as well.

Also... instead on straight black... I am thinking of Black base with candy red clear shot over top.... 'Black Cherry' look.... think that's what I am gonna call the car as well.

I understand that you might be afraid of it looking busy but you have to see that, if fact, you are complimenting the natural lines of the car that are appealing. I'm not trying to push the idea, I just think it would be refreshingly different. Either way, it's a cool @$$ car. i'm very partial to second gens.

P.S. I just showed my girlfriend your first post and without saying a word, I said "which one would you like to see on the car".....she said "B". Great minds think alike.... :yeah:
