I'm mounting the battery under the rear of the car I am building. Because of that I need to put a junction post or something under the hood as a place where I can jump start the car. I have the perfect location worked out. The issue is that I need to make the base out of a nonconductive material that is strong enough that I can mount a stud to it for the 2ga wire I will be using. Milling and cutting the material shouldn't be a problem. I was thinking of using ABS or Delrin? is that the correct name for the black material that a lot of shift handles are made of? How much of an issue do you think heat will be? I will have 2ga running from the battery to this junction point and then down to the starter. The alternator will charge back to the starter to then go back to the battery along the same cable. Any one have another idea besides basically having a metal stud mounted in a nonconductive material?

Thanks

I went through the same problem with my car. The solution I came up with was using a GM battery junction block thats rectangle, and has a stud mounted in the center with a snap-tite cover with the battery (+) markings. I've seen them used in 2003-2006 Tahoes. Its a nice way to make a junction connection
