Boys and Girls-

We have decided against zinc plating our oil pans because it is getting hard to find a decent company to do it in a reasonable time frame.

We have decided on two options- The first is a light gray powdercoating that looks very OEM like and matches the rest of the LSX factory parts.

The second option is one my fabricator thought of after he used scotch-brite on the entire pan. We then had it cleared with powder coating. I like this one because it shows the amazing TIG welds he is able to lay down. they look like a tiny stack of dimes laid out.

I liked the Zinc, but understand the timing requirements. I voted clear. I like to see those amazing welds too.

What material is the pan made from? If it's any kind of mild steel, count me in the gray powdercoat vote. If it's stainless, then I'll vote clear.

I'm lucky enough to say I have one of those and the welds are absolutely beautiful.

I think it should be clear finish, hands down. The pics look great!

My vote would have to be the clear!

Almost as much bling as those fancy spindles.

clear, but what would be even sicker is if you left the heat marks from when it was welded.

Well, I think clear looks awesome, and if you can only choose one go with that one. However, why not offer a second option? Maybe a black like Vince mentioned or even an uncoated one in case someone wants to chrome theirs or powder coat it a different color entirely. I wouldn't hide those welds though.

Why are you welding everyting with silicon bronze have you had trouble with the out side corner welds cracking? Quality fabrication, I would paint it black.

I voted for grey, but I think black would be even better. Something that would hide road grime and oil well would be my first choice.

I like the powdercoating idea, but the gray is too industrial-looking.
