I'm working on a 68 Chevy pickup with truck arms. In stock form it uses rubber bushings.

If I converted it to a solid joint, would it help out handling much?

I built a trailing arm suspension setup for my jeep using johnny joints and this seems to work well for offroading. I was thinking this would work well for my pickup application too.

Bascially a johnny joint is a high angle rod end.

The Johnny Joint would be a great idea. Another option (at least for a pavement pounder) is here: http://www.stockcarproducts.com/trkarm.htm Not sure they would be good for a Jeep though :drive1:

Rubber is best for a truck-arm.

Anything firmer than rubber requires bending of arms/mounts or twisting of the axle housing for articulation to occur. If everything is rigid, and bushings have no compliance, roll stiffness is theoretically infinite.

Truck arms are essentially a really long ladder-bar setup with the forward mounts moved inboard.
