Is an aluminum driveshaft from a 90's chev pick-up a good choice for a 1st gen pushing 300 hp? the u joints are 1330.

Sure but check your diameter, IIRC they are close to 4" diameter and might interfere with exhaust or tunnel...you could have one made too... http://www.cmwraceparts.com/Clutches/Clutch64a.html for under $300

Aluminum is ~$260 and steel is $170 plus shipping (shipping was reasonable IIRC)
