OK, here's what I am looking for;
1) I need to get a good converter for my Dad's '56 Chevy, LT-4 with a 700R4 behind it. It is in dire need of more stall!
2) I need to raise the shift points at full throttle to around 6000 rpm, and so I am looking for someone to supply me with a recalibrated governor and possible a recalibrated throttle valve (if necessary). Again, it's for a 700R4 (the performance on GM sold).

Just put a Precision Industries 9.5 lock up behind my cammed LT1 with a 700r4. One of the few Co's who's internet hype is true. Car is day and night compared to the Pro Torque I had in it. Also did not fail within the first 100 miles like the Pro Torque. 100% satisfied and car launches super hard yet drives almost like orig stock one. Expensive at about $750 but well worth it. They even offer a free re-stall if the orig isn't to your liking or you make a change. Do it once and do it right.

Wow! Having nothing but great success with Pro-Torque. Super high efficiency converters and great people to work with.

Thanks for the info guys!
Now, anyone know a tranny guy/shop that will help on the governor?

Any of them really. It's a pretty simple part. How much rpm are you looking for?

It's an LT4, so a full throttle shift at 6,000 RPM would be perfect.

you can access the govener from the side of the trans and buy a kit to recalibrate it yourself. Friend did two trannies in about an hour never having done it before. Since he was doing his own I had dropped mine off to be done so I didn't get to see what was involved.

Any idea as to where a kit like this might be purchased?

Yeah Joe at PT is a great talker but when it comes down backing something up it all goes out the window. 1st converter blew on Sunrise HWY after 100miles and 2nd one had stall almost identical to stock. Best part is FB Tranny charged me $100 over list for the converter.They claim they do something special to it???? Put their sticker on it? That is besides FB's tranny leaking and having to be taken out 3x. FB even had the balls to charge me for service on their leaking tranny. Again under 200 miles on the whole set up. Joe's side of the story is in left field. I have the pics to prove my side. I never asked for a penny free but felt charging someone list prices or above after 2 problems was a bit much. That deal cost me about $1000.00 plus a mess under my car.
How are you testing effeciency? I think that is a huge marketing deal that one of the Co's thought up and they sold like hot cakes. Very few have any way to trully test. Most are just doing a basic math from numbers provided from GM. To me it is all about the quality components and ability to get the stall close to what you need. Most important is warranty. For the same price basically Precision Industries offers 2 years and a free redo on the converter. Remember dropping a tranny on a well built Hot Rod cost money in fluids and damages to a detailed car. But then who knows PT might be building PI's converters or the other way around?? as most are store fronts.
Installed another brand and car is night and day. I will admit smaller and more expensive but PT was their recommendation according to FB not mine. I would never use either of them again. Stop listening to all the BS and put both in. Then you can clearly test the 2.
