View Full Version : No intercooler, just meth injection

Would this work? Say you don't have room or money for an intercooler but want to run a turbo. Street boost levels like 6 or 8 lbs max. I would think it could work so long as you have a big enough meth tank. I would also think you'd have to spray the meth in at two different locations. Say one right out of the turbo and another shortly before it goes into the engine. The tunning could be set up so that if the intake air goes over a set temp, the car basically becomes a dog because the incoming air is too hot. I'm just thinking out loud but am curious to know from those that are better with this if it could work. Thanks

My step-sister was addicted to Meth. It sure jacked her up. Can't be good for a car either.

6 psi shouldn't require an intercooler. If you think that you do need one why not look into something from a factory intercooled vehicle? Something from a 4-banger might be a little small, but you might be able to run a pair of them. Shouldn't be too expensive.

That's a good idea but if space is non existent I still would need a different method for cooling the intake charge. I know methanol injection is used as a supplement, but could it be used as the sole means of cooling is what I am after.

True, was you step-sister really addicted to Meth? Was she able to get off that stuff? Man is it such a horrendous drug.

Technically, yes. She decided to kill herself two days before my wedding last year. She got my actual sister mixed up with the stuff too. Thankfully my sister got off the stuff and is doing well now.

Yes, it's horrific stuff.

Meth is bad for people for sure. My bro was crankin' pretty hard for awhile but thankfully he wised up, joined the Army and now being a grunt is his anti-drug. I always had one, it's cars.
I will be using meth injection on my D1-SC supercharged SBM. It won't spray all the time and it's initiated by a pressure sensitive switch not temperature.
Im not an authority on the subject but I would recomend an IC for a turbo car UNLESS the turbo or turbo's were mounted in the tailpipes like a Squires system.

Glad to hear you sister is off that stuff. It's pure poison. Sorry to hear about your step-sister.

go-fish, I intend to run a nice sized intercooler on my TA if I ever get around to it. that motor will be NA and may stay that way. My thoughts with the turbo are along the same lines as yours. The charged air will have a lot of heat because it's in the exhaust stream close to the motor. The only feasible way to lower the temp is with an intercooler.

Instead of meth, please consider using E85 instead IF you have a Lamda sensor to correct for O2 at the exhaust pipe?

And btw, E85 has like a 105 octane rating!!


And I KNOW this crap exist's, BUT I don't know which "Surfactant" is being used!!

They can burn 50 percent + water/fuel regardless whether it's water/Ethanol, Unleaded or Diesel b/c they use a proprietary "Surfactant" that make's the 50/50 or whatever water/fuel mixture an emulsion that will take a long time to settle out!!

And they are even burning this 50/50 water/crude oil crap in ocean going oil tankers traveling back and forth from Vensuela(Sp?) too!

I mention a 50/50 water/fuel mixture b/c it is just the stuff to stop detonation cold!!

I've run several Procharged vehicles on 91 octane, no intercooler, and up to 16 psi of boost; all with water injection. It does work. I prefer an intercooler, but it can be done without it.
