Since I painted my car a few years ago the silver 2nd gen Camaros seem to be popping up everywhere.
I still do like the color very much but since my car needs a respray anyways I am looking into giving it a new color.
Since I do want to use it often (maybe even daily again) I am also thinking about a solid color which is easier (cheaper) to paint and easier to repair.
As you all know other people are not as careful with your car as you are yourselves so easy repair is a +……

What I would like is to gather as much pics as possible of 70-73 Camaros (or at least 2nd gen F body cars) with different and or special colors.
Photoshops are great too.

What color are you looking to paint it?

Solids are not necessarily cheaper to buy. Some reds and solids cost more and for whatever reason Silvers are cheaper than other metallics and pearls.

How about a variation of silver? Maybe one of the cool new darker shades out there.

Tungsten Grey Effect (T8) comes on new Mustangs and on Ford GTs.. sweet color. About $95 a quart from PPG (Deltron)...

Lots of nice variations of silvers on the market.. go walk around some car dealerships.

Right Now my favorite out of the bunch is the Rootbeer...

If you are looking at a particular color, let me know, and I can plug it in for you.

Steve, I didn't know that...I allways was under the impression solids were cheaper....another lesson learned.
It is true though those colors are easier to fix (spray a small part after a repair and blend in)?

Todd, thanks sofar, that's great work! I am thinking about white or a very light yellow perhaps. I think I like lighter colors better.

funny thing is the blue is just like how I bought it.

thanks again!
Martin

Maybe some stripes just to break up the huge fields of silver?

I think I don't want stripes....I like what the shadows do with the nice 2nd gen body lines.

Hi Martin,
Car still looks good so if you do the touchup and feel good about how it looks , you could put a tinted clearcoat right over the silver. I would think it would be as good as white for a base and it could really pop like the candy colors did in the 60's. If you decide to change you just block it down and change it. It could happen? It's just an idea but it might be cool if you try it.

If I ever do another one, it will be the same color as my old 71, factory Musalenne Blue.

Martin, here's a pic of a light(er) yellow. I really stink at light colors w/ PShop, sorry. :)

If you were to spray a yellow candy color like Jim suggested over the silver, I think it would look great. You could also go with almost any other color on top of the silver. If your current paint isn't too beat up, I would go that way. Only problem is that if you ever have to do touch up work you will never match it correctly. The positive side is that doing a candy coat over your existing paint should cost less than doing a whole new color.

The yellow looks good. To me butternut yellow(I believe it was a first gen only color) is a very nice color.

thank sofar guys! My paint needs a lot of work... some dents and some very small rustspots. Also some rust in the rear (behind rear wheels) that needs some new metal welded in so re-using the silver as a base is no option.

the yellow looks nice and different.
