Get there early, there is hardly time to do everything offered.
Go through orientation and then check out the displays.
Go to the "warm up" tent and do at least two free runs in the non-turbo Cobalt, - that is the version you will do timed runs in.

While waiting, watch the cars on the timed run course, try to memorize the course at every opportunity. The PRO driver will go out and set a baseline lap several times during the day. Try to watch is run to see how he does it. Don't be discouraged when he beats eveyone by 2 seconds! :) Your time will be indexed off his best of two runs during your run group.

Next, go to the driving schools, they run every half hour. 101 is basic, 102 is the good stuff. There are some areas where they tell you to go flat out, you may if you can drive well enough, but for many you can't do the slaloms without lifting a bit. I'm assuming they will make the course the same as they did in Alameda.

The car has hydroboost brakes and they slow you down a LOT so go easy on the brakes. This is a front wheel drive car, so it pushes if you get into a slalom and slow down a lot, and it pushes terrible on the large decreasing radius turn on the far end of the course. I knew to watch for it on my first run and it pushed anyway! The school instructor says to brake at the far end in a straight line, and you really do need to slow down a lot, enough to get back on the gas and get the front end pulling to get the car to turn and make it around the far end. On zig zags, it's very quick and feels good, especially if you are on the gas a bit. If you screw up, tap the brakes, then get back on the gas so it won't push on you. Remember if you brake heavily and are turning, it will push.

At the start line up straight where the car will need to go, the start line is angled away from where the car will go and your traction will be uneven when you take off, I stepped down part way, then when the car started rolling, I floored it and it took off very well. The car is kinda low powered at first, but it builds a lot of power like a turbo (175hp), about the time you enter the first slalom, so watch out for it or you will go flying into the slalom and hit a cone. I think it's the variable cam timing kicking in. You can do the last half of the return run flat out if you steer carefully/smoothly speed builds a lot and you are going very fast at the end, so being precise is a must.

When they say "look ahead" that is really good advice. There are lots of instructors walking around that you can ask questions of, take advantage of them.

When done with your first run, have a snack and sit for a while and think about your run and what you need to do on the second run 1 hr later.

After your second run, your card is good for two runs in a corvette, it's a double slalom, have fun!

There are still two or three more events you can attend like go-karts, an acceleration run, a ride in a C6 driven by a "PRO" and a ride or drive in some new cars, I didn't make it to that one.

Our event had the lines thin out later in the day, so if you want to do the go-karts, do it later in the day, that way you don't waste time in the lines.
