I have a 69 Camaro that I am putting in an LS1, auto transmission and console with stock shifter out of a 98 Camaro. I have the shifter cable out of the 98 but it is too short as the engine in the 69 is further forward. Wondering what others that have done this swap have used for a cable.

Can you post a picture of the cable ends? Otherwise look into a cable from an Impala SS or an Escalade. Hopefully the dealer can tell you the length and show you the part before you buy-or accept a return. I'm concerned that an aftermarket cable (I prefer B&M) will have incompatible ends.

Looking on the web I have seen pictures of the Impala cable. The ends do look like what I need. Thanks for the suggestion. Do you know how long the cable is?

Visit bmracing.com and contact their tech department. They can make cables as short as 2" and as long as 12" (I think). Still not sure if the ends will be right though. And I'm not sure if GM has ever made a floor shifter equipped truck like an Escalade. That might be a good alternative. After those two options are exhausted, it's junkyard time. The big three outsources their shifter components, so it is entirely possible that an off brand floor shifter cable will have the appropriate ends--like a Dodge Magnum for example.

Also give Tyler at ATS a call. He is just finishing up a car that uses a shifter from a new Pontiac. Sourced it from Bolwer Transmission.

Sorry I can't be of more help. Let us know how you made out.
