Ok, to all the guys that beat on thier car. With the stock gas tank, what do you guys do to the gas cap needing to be vented but dumping gas out all over the place when you rip it? What is the remedy? I tried a non vented cap, but it just swells the tank (BADLY) and gets it superheated.
Do tell, do tell please!!:hmm:

I put a vent tube on my tank and piped it to a charcoal cannister.

That solved the sloshing and the stinky garage problem.

I thought I read a thread recently that had a 'trap door' kind of thing in the filler neck. Under extreme G's where the gas might go back up the filler neck, it would then close the trap door shut.

Am I looney?

Had the same problem, hot weather caused it to vapor lock with a tight cap and a vented spilled gas. Talked with some 60's-70's hot rodders and they would use a 1/16th drill bit and drill a small hole in the center of a tight (non-vented) cap. Did it, no lock, no spills, no problems.

Any other comments and ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for the ones so far.

What charcoal canister did you use?

I think it came out of a Grand Am. On my car its mounted behind the grill RH side.

My locking cap (Stant?) does not leak as much or at all compared to the standard ones. I had originally switched due to people siphoning my gas, never knew it would be a "performance" part.
