To ALL G-Body owners!

I just wanted to bring to attention the growth spurt the g-bodies are involved in. I started buying them back in 2000 and at the time they weren't that popular. At least I wasn't aware of it. As of late there has been quite a surge in the growing members with g-bodies. I would just like to say keep up the good work to those of you involved in some serious g-body projects, and keep us updated. Heres a few pics of my projects that are at a standstill at the moment. Blue 78, white 78 (former CarCraft project) & 83 Woodie Wagon (photochop of what it will look like).

Zero mile 1987 GN's are now getting $35k, while zero mile GNX's $100k.

I have looked for a nice SS the last few years and it seems to me that some of the SS owners see the GN prices and think they can get $15k for a 50k mile car. Big diff on power between a GN and a carb'd 305 - cannot really even compare.

c'mon Steve... tell me you would'nt like to see the value of your car jump up to at least a respectable portion of what you've ot into it?
I know I would. At least you know anyone who builds a G body (especially Monte Carlos) is in it for the car not the resale value.

Good point John. I agree, I'd love to see my car worth $$ someday, I just don't want the G-bodies to turn into unobtainable (for the average income household) muscle cars like the early Camaros and Chevelles. One guy I know just sold his super straight and clean '84 SS on Ebay. It was a New Mexico car with absolutely zero rust on it. It had a great running TPI 350, 6-speed trans, 12" front brakes, and a nice interior, and he got a whopping $7500. IMO, someone stole that car. It should've gone for $10K easily.

G-bodies are very popular with the cruzing/lowrider crowd. Saw video the other day of a bounce contest with most of the cars being g-body. I think most will agree that they see either a clean GN or Monte SS or a trash one driving around. Even saw a "donked" GN in Bakersfield. Shame..... Never going to lose mine.

i love g-bodies i really regret selling my 78 two years ago. i've owned two 78 malibus an 82 elcamino. currently own a 81 elcamino royalknight and i'm working on getting me a 82 wagon at the moment. i love these cars and how universal everything is for them.

This thread made me get my Malibu out last night and give it a good thrashing.
I have only one complaint, it is still too early to sink too much into one unless you are willing to have your money tied up in it. Personally I have no plans to sell mine, but I would be in trouble investment wise if I did sell right now, probably only get about .50 on the dollar. Be that as it may, I still love my much improved 80 boo.

i love these cars and how universal everything is for them.

That to me is one of the best parts too.... Take the dash from a Grand Prix and the seats from a Grand National, make the color match and somehow it all works out and you have a completely custom interior.. plenty of chassis upgrade options too... can be made fairly light as well. They are just the best car to customize and DRIVE!

As it is 'Bus are quite rare and hard to fine, LeMans are even harder.
Cutlis are pretty easy to locate. Regals have become parts fodder for GNs and GN wannabes. And the lowly GP, well that has a face only a mother can love, or someone with a 2+2 nose ;-).

I'm annoyed with the clowns that were 'roll N' scrapers and B bods into the ground and now want to wreck the A/Gs. Fuggetaboutit. Let us stay underground and let the clowns 'mob' in their 'G' Vans ;-)

I remember when you could pick up G-bodies with blown 231's and clean bodies for $300 in the early 90's. Now people want$1000 for rotted beaters around here.

Bought my 81 malibu classic back in the mid 90's with mid 50's milage and running with the 231 for $300.00. Painted it, new vinyl top, put on a repainted set of old rally wheels off an El Camino and used it as the daily driver for years. It's now in a new "build" waiting it to return home from cage fab shop before new paint.
