What formula should I use in order to pick the right rear end gear ratio to run the Texas or Maxton mile? Where do you put the powerband? Please help....

That website should help you. I don't know if you've been to either track yet but unless you have a rollbar or cage they'll limit ya to 135 MPH. They give a 5 MPH window and if you go over 140 they boot ya till you come back with rollover protection. Oh ya, they frown on the last pass Bonzai run line of thinking and say they won't give you the timeslip if it's over 140.

You could figure the maximum speed that you want to run, or think you can run, put in the RPMs that your engine will take, figure in the tire circumference and high gear in the transmission and get the gear ratio that you need.

You need to basically know the maximum speed you might achieve and gear for that at the max power rpm level you put out.
In my case I geared for 200 mph at 6,000 rpm (Max power for me)which eneded up being a 3.08 gear with a .75 overdrive 5th gear ratio with a 25.5" tire.
Simple math, but you need to know your power curve and speed you might achieve.
