Hey, even though I work at a car magazine it's still pretty exciting.. Look for my '68 in the August issue of Super Chevy. The mag has a bright orange pro-touring Camaro on the cover. lol
Oh, as a bonus here's a shot of the car we didn't use in the feature...

Make sure you buy an issue if you can. It's important for issues that deal with pro-touring cars to do well. Makes it easier to run more PT stuff in the future.

Sorta funny to be hacking up the car at the same time it's coming out on the cover of a magazine..

got mine in the mail the other day, congrats on the cover steve, great article:headbang:
I keep thinking that I want my car to be as sweet as Penny one day, or at least good enough to be in Pennys shadow.
Everytime I read about Penny, i wonder if I've set my sights too high! :)
Congrats on the cover shot Steve.

Great shots. That stance is money.
Steve, if you don't mind I have a couple questions on your setup. Are these specs from your webpage still up to date?
18x10 forged three-piece front Forgeline wheels
18x12 forged three-piece rear Forgeline wheels
275/35/18 front Michelin Pilot Sport tires
335/35/18 rear Michelin Pilot Sport tires
Dana 60 rear end with 4.11 gears
Detroit Locker and Moser axels
Custom 4-link coil-over rear suspension
Is your Dana 60 stock length for a 68 Camaro? I have a Currie 9" in my 68 and want to nail down the stance.
Can you tell me your backspacing for both front and rear? I want to run the same tire sizes as you I think.
I believe you have a Lateral Dynamics 3 link now if I recall. ?
Also, how much lower than stock is your setup currently?
thanks much.

Sorry I missed your question..
Those are specs from when I got the car.. and some were off (incorrect)
Here they are now..
18x9 front wheels.. 6 7/8" backspace
18x12 rear wheels.. 6 inch backsapce
Strange 9" with lateral dynamics 3-link
The front backspace will not work for you unless you're running the same suspension as I am. You'll need to calculate what will work best for you. Most aftermarket subframes let you run a wide front tire (DSE, Morrison, ETC)
I have no idea how much lower my car is from stock.. it has coil overs so I can set it where ever I like.
Did that answer your questions?
Thanks

Read the article last night. Great coverage, Steve, and well written. Of course more detail would always be great! But, I'll be rereading it a few more times!

Well, at over 10,000 charaters it was already twice as long as a normal Super Chevy story.. Campisano wanted the story to be more detailed about how hard it is to put and LSx engine into a classic musclecar.
I could have made it twice as long, lol.. writing about your own stuff is EASY.
Thanks for the compliment.

Actually it was made from a bendable board. Secured at the bottom with brackets then bent backward in an arch and secured to the package tray area. Then just carpeted over. Kept the area from looking so empty.

It'd look great. Of course I'd say that. No really. It's a very agressive look--much like your wheels. For the blue car, we will be polishing the front and painting the rear black with natural aluminum struts. I recommend the same for your car. Only one 67/68 left, too. And one 69 remaining. The rest are all spoken for. So you will be in pretty exclusive company. One of only ten.

Since you are talking about magazines selling well because of a segment. I have had my August copy of PHR for a while. I haven't even cracked it because on the cover there is a 70 Camaro with a blower  sticking out of the hood.

Don't be taking that approach with me... you had me on the phone. Any decent salesman would have said "Well, you can wait to decided but I only have one left..."
Don't you know how to pressure your customer? I was counting on you! Now I'm going to have to waste my $$ on crap like food and shelter...

Rupp, see if any of the ad-sales guys have a Dale Carnegie book they'd be willing to part with.
I was bummed to find out they were all gone as well.
Steve-O, you only have to sell 8 more to justify another production run.

Nice car. Congrats on the cover and everyone here should have a subscription to Super Chevy. IMO.
I read your article and I have a suggestion. Put in a I-pod like we did on John Parsons car. He told me he loves it ,sounds great and there's no mega watt stereo system. All you see is an I-pod in his one off docking port in the center console and speakers in the door panels. Everything else is hidden including the 8" sub in- between the rear buckets in a custom center piece.
However, I'll take a mega watt stereo system anyday!!!I love great sound.
