I'm thinking about going with a T56 from a Camaro w/console and seats into my '87 SS Monte-has anyone done this in a g-body? Any tips? I might go with the T56 but the other option is a Tremec. I want to retain the factory Camaro pedals (if possible), linkage, clutch master/slave cyclinders, etc. -Jabin

I've had 4th-gen F-body seats in another Monte, and used the stock console with my World Class T5. You can see info on my swap here - www.bowtiepower.com/T5conversion.html

Another GREAT resourse is http://garage-scene.home.att.net/t5_install.htm - there are tons of links and information on this site. Definitely read through everything there, it covers a lot of the pitfalls and possibilites.

I have a T56 in an 86 Monte SS. I used the factory Monte console & cut a hole in it for the F body T56 shifter boot. I thought I had a picture of it somewhere but I can't find it at the moment.

i have an interior out of an 86 monte SS im my car, i just used the stock console and cut out a hole, i think it looks pretty much factory. im still unsure what im gonna use for seats, i may just have the SS seats recovered.
