I had the honor of babysitting II Much last night. John was invited to "Eyes On Design" at the Henry Ford Mansion in Grosse Pointe. It was my first chance to see the car in person. All I can say is, file this one in the "pictures don't do it justice" file. It has to be seen to be believed. The fabrication and execution are phenomenal. I gotta throw out major props to John. I told him he's going to shake up that show because Detroit has never seen the likes of a car like his. Too many old schoolers around here. Andrew made the trip out, it was nice to finally meet him and pick his brain on LS stuff. Alas, a faulty power steering pump pimped me out of gettin a ride but I'll see those guys at Pigeon Forge in September.
Then it'll be time to pay up, Parsons.:drive: LOL!!!!

I don't beleive the story. So how many miles did you really put on it? You know putting it in reverse won't take the miles off the odometer. LOL

You know what was really maddening......John left me the keys. LOL!!! Actually, I think I only had the keys to the trailer so best I could have done was sit in the drivers seat and play "Race Car" all night. I just managed to sandwich that rig into the back yard too. I got up about 3 times during the night to check up on it, even parked my wifes Trailblazer in front of Johns truck just for extra added security. What a great car. You really gotta see it in person to appreciate it.
Sadly, I never made it out to the show, I am terribly busy right now doing landscaping and power washing on our house. As you can tell it's up for sale right now, so we're scrambling. There's a million loose ends to tie up before we get our first walk through. Besides, John and Andrew will be at Pigeon Forge in September so I'll get another chance to see it then. I heard Steilow was there with 2 cars. I'm guessing Red Witch and Camaro X. I've seen em. John and Andrew are good guys. Jason Marsa (jmarsa) and I met them downtown later that night at Fishbones and we had a few pops and some laughs. Some good people we have here in the Pro-Touring community. You should all be proud to be a part of it. I sure am.

Tony,
I feel badly I couldn't take you for a ride. I gotta get the power steering fixed. I got a Turn One pump sitting right here! Can't wait for Pigeon Forge, either!
More importantly, I can't thank you enough for the babysitting. It really made the stay in Detroit a lot less stressful. It was convenient too ... Andrew and I just popped over and snagged it in the morning and went to the show. It really worked out great.
It was great meeting you and Jason. The little oasis in Detroit is cool with the casino, restaurants, and Da People Mover. Dinner was awesome! Great choice for the beer, food, and viewing pleasures.
As far as the show goes, it was different than most shows: only a few street rods, a handful of musclecars, and lots of other cars you wouldn't normally see at a Year One or a Good Guys. I enjoyed the show.
I'm home now and dead tired (just finished driving 900 miles).
thanks again!

p.s. Watch out for Andrew. He'll be having you buy an LS7 or something before you're done. :) Just stay the course. I expect to see your cool Camaro on the road in a year or so ...

Yep. All I need is 10 grand to fall out of the sky and I'm all set. LOL!!!
No problem at all, John. That's what this community is for; networking, support, and making friends all across this great country. I'd do the same for anyone here. Glad to see you made it home safe.
We'll see ya in few months. :)

John I cant thank you enough for making the trip!! Yes this a different kind of show. The focus of these shows is to highlight a theme of design. This year was the Aero and Streamline designs. This was a difficult thing to do with PT cars. So the rule did not quite apply. But I wanted to show mild to wild in this class and let me say that John your car was a huge hit for the design crowd. Heard lots of talk about how great the car was and the colors were so cool.
Thanks again for making the trip,
Chris Schulz

Chris,
It was my pleasure. It was an honor to be invited, and I was happy to make the trip. I enjoyed meeting you and some of the other GM design staff. I wish I could have chatted with Tom Peters longer ... I hear he's the man for the GM Design staff. When we chatted, I did the engineer thing: talked about the function and fabrication of the car, rather than describe the design elements. Oh well. :)
Glad the design staff dug the car too, and let's hope the PT style of car continues to gather followers.
thanks again!
