I've got a set of 1-piece billet aluminum wheels that are fully polished. I like the wheels, but I want to reduce the bling and achieve a more purposeful look. Powdercoating is expensive because they would have to heat tape the wheel to keep the polished lip. I don't want to paint the centers because I want a more durable finish. What's the best way to create a brushed aluminum finish on the wheel center while leaving the outer rim polished? Can I Scotchbrite or wetsand the spokes to achieve this look?

Thanks. -Neil

I just de-blinged a set of grand cherokee srt wheels that i have on my commander. They were polished and clearcoated. After stripping the clear coat, I wet sanded them with 220, then 400, then 800 and then used 00 steel wool. I think they look pretty good. They're still kind of a bright silver but not shiney. The steel wool part was the toughest because it kept falling apart. I'm going to get a scothbrite pad and try that next

Eagleone Mag wheel cleaner will take that polished shine away in an instant. It leaves a satin look.
