I typically put an 8" wide wheel on the front and a 9.5" wheel on the rear with a 4.75"BS front, and 5.75"BS rear. The ZR1's are all 9.5" if I remember correctly, with a high offset, which will then require you running about a 1.5" long adapter. Here's a photo of my 70 I'm selling. It has 8's and 9.5's with a 245wide tire on the front, and a 275 on the rear. Hope that helps. Feel free to call or email if you have any questions.

At 6" of BS, I wouldnt run much more than a 295 wide tire, especially if your car is lowered any.

Normally, as far as I've seen, 5.75" backspace is the most to run on the rear. Actual MAX sizing is 17x9.5 front with 5.5" backspace running 275/40 tires, and 17x11 rear with 5.75" backspace running 315/35 tires. You do have to watch for the seat belt bump in the front of the rear wheel well and roll the fender lips though. In front, you're gonna most likely see rubbing on the front sway bar, and possibly the outer lip with a chance of the rear of the wheel well on some cars. It's worse on lowered cars. Most 2nd gens run 17x8 with 4.75"-5" backspace up front running 245/45 tires, and 17x9.5 with 5.5" backspace and either 275/40 or 285/40 tires. I hope this helps you. If you need any more help, the many of the guys over at www.nastyz28.com are running the sizes I just mentioned.
