I am a Gordon fan and don't want Jr as I do not see that he is that special (other than his lineage). Oh well. He can make a good blocker for the 24 and 48.

pretty tough for Jr. to win a race or anyone else for that matter when they keep handing the races to the homo...take Pocono for example another second and the race would of been Newman's. But like always the caution plays right into Jeff's hands.

Junior made a SUPERB choice for his new team. He will now have the equipment and support to win. It's now up to Jr and I am sure he would not want it any other way!

The whole hatred towards Gordon makes me shake my head in wonder. What is the basis for it? Because he wins too much? Because he is good at marketing himself? Because he has made lots of money? Because he has a hot wife? :dunno: These things are admirable in my book.
He doesn't take people out to win, rarely causes or even gets into accidents, and has proven himself on every NASCAR track (including road courses). Every driver has expressed their admiration for his driving skills...including the ones that did't like him (Rusty Wallace is an example).
Fans of Earnhardt (the father not JR) hated him and the reality is Dale (the father) and Gordon were friends off the track.
I became a Jeff Gordon fan when I was in high school watching him win midget races on ESPNs "Thursday Night Thunder" when he was a very young teenager. And what he has now accomplished in NASCAR is pretty amazing.
So one would have to conclude the hatred is not because he is a bad driver. And unless you know him personally, just how are you judging him?
Then there is the whole conspiracy theory thing of NASCAR handing wins to him. :barf:
As for JR, he has a LOT to prove and admits that (watch his press release this week). "I owe it to my fans to win more races."
I respect Gordon as he has proven himself a racer. And there are legions of JR fans....why? Because he is the son of someone else???? He hasn't proven his ability on the track yet.

Big Gorden fan here. And I was a big Dale Sr. fan too. I never could understand the hatred Jeff gets other than to say it must be because he's a yankee.
Jr. stinks. He's gettin' by on his last name.

Alright, as a 24 year old, relatively moderate Nascar fan, I have to speak up on this one given my feelings about the recent Jr. developments. First off, my own father is a huge Jeff Gordon fan. Now, I have no idea why, maybe it has to do with the fact that he's won at every level of racing in which he's ever participated. Or maybe it's because he IS relatively well spoken and seems to portray an image of class and respect for tradition of the sport. As for his sexuality, I highly doubt that factors into my dad's or any other reasonable Nascar fan's thinking when they cheer for the 24 car, especially given the hotness quotient of Gordon's wife!! but I digress...
Now, with that said, I couldn't care less if Mr. Gordon wins another race. To be quite honest, I will still respect him for what he's accomplished in the sport, but I don't need to see him win in order to enjoy the race. It doesn't really matter to me. Conversely, however, I do root wholeheartedly, win or lose, for Dale Jr. This may be because he connects well with the next generation of Nascar fans (including myself), or maybe it's because he too is relatively well spoken (Jr. is at least better than some NBA, NFL or MLB super stars) and he also manages to outwardly portray his respect for the rich traditon of the sport. My own perception of Jr's respect for the tradition of the sport is far more than I can say for many of the other 20-35 year old drivers currently employed at the Nextel cup level.
So, as for Jr. going to Hendrick, I am genuinely excited! I think it will be great to see him chase after wins or maybe even championships while driving what I think we can (should) all agree is World-Class equipment. Furthermore, if it turns out that he is unable to win races or compete for championships, than all the naysayers will actually have something to back up their criticism. Because at this point, I don't think there is a scrap of evidence to support any negative comments or criticisms Earnhardt Jr, much less Jeff Gordon who has done nothing but win numerous Nascar championships and earn the respect of other celebrated drivers from the past, including one Dale Earnhardt, #3.

Never once did anyone say he is a bad driver, they are all good drivers or they would'nt be in the sport that they are in. Jeff has been fortunate to be with a good stable team fron day 1 which makes a huge difference. The Earnhardt family has gone through alot in the last few years and for Jr. trying to live up to his fathers name puts alot more stress on him than your average other driver on the track. I know you Gordon fans can't see it but look back at his last few wins and if you honestly say that he hasn't been lucky. I think the best one was him and Jimmie racing for the win and Jimmie not letting him by and in the post race interveiw whining the Jimmie was holding him up and he wasn't happy about it. I think he wants everyone to move out of his way, somone should explain to him that the sport doesn't work that way. If I recall I can remember Jeff spinning out Rusty a few times, thus the reason for Rusty's hate.He is a good driver and a good whiner as well having a horseshoe the size of Texas up his @$$. Oh yeh and as for his hot wife....she looks like a cross dresser.

No excuses for Jr. now. He will have the best of the best so now it's driver skill.
I hope he has a breakthrough year in 2008. 1 of many championships.
