Well now I am officially broke and dont know where my next tank of gas is coming from.
Someone got ahold of my Ebay account nad well so far I have found that I am about 600 in debt to bad checks and now I am in the position of having my phone, water ,electric and such cut off!
If this had happened in July I would be ok as I have ESOP money coming out.
Crap the bad thing is that my project ideas are forming and now I am too worried to mess with it. I have parts and the few tools I need.
Heck I may even have to sell some of my higher end tools like my rearend set up kit(payid almost 1000 bucks for it when it first came out)and a bunch of my other tools.
God this sucks A$$!!!!
Watch out guys i am hurting and I hope no one else gets hit.

Well if they hit your CC they should not hold you liable for the charges. The bad checks will take more work, but if they were written in FLA or something and you can establish that you never left Indiana you should be ok.

Hopefully you'll be able to get some help from your e-bay's/your bank's/your credit card's fraud dept.

I get those super-official looking e-mails from scammers pretending to be banks/e-bay all the time, and half the time I almost fall for them.

If it's a check, bad checks are pretty easy to trace.

If you've got money coming out of your ESOP next month, and it's only $600, I'm sure your bank could give you a decent loan to cover you for a month.

Hell, I'm sure a few of us would be okay with kicking you down some cash for a few weeks in exchange for a little extra beer money when you pay us back next month.

Make sure you put fraud alerts on your accounts and credit cards and file a police report, (and maybe a fraud report with your state attorney general or the FTC) so you have as much paperwork in your corner as possible.

Keeping calm and dealing with all the banks/credit cards/companies/people involved in a prompt and mellow manner is the key to making this go as positively as possible.

Good Luck! We're here to help, so keep us posted.

This is not uncommon. I've had so much trouble with pay pal... not e-bay mind you. There has to be a way for you to prove you did not do the transactions, such as, where did the items go to if they were purchased? If items were sold, where did they send the money to? If it was not to you, you aren't liable. My pay pal account was shut down because I had the phone number issued to me that belonged to someone else that screwed pay pal before, now since that was "linked", they have banned my soc sec number based on the fact I had some loser's phone number (i still get collection calls for natalie and mike...yay) and they wont let me have an account. They locked up my old one and it was perfect, not a mark on it. They are such jerks.

Well, so far we arent sure how it got back to my bank but the trouble all goes back to ebay.
Heck Ebay caught them and restored my account but I am still in the hurt till I figure out some way to make it two weeks till next pay.
Actually paypal got wind of it and lock up tight and nothing left there.
I had an identity theft attemp way back 02 and the lawyer i talked too connected with Ebay seems to think that may also hav esomething to do with it.
But the electronic trai lis still hot so,,,,.
I just ahvent figured out how to sell enough stuff to get a small nest egg till I get a little better off.
I have a snapon master differential set up kit and figured boss would buy it for shop but hes talking hes hurting but buys something like 8 cases of some "super lubricant " the guy came buy with his little load tester selling his liquid majic in a bottle.
All it is , is a liquid metal conditioner. But got a free sample so I am going to give it a try to revive an engine.
If it works so be it.
At leat there are 2 more pay periods in this month. I am trying to rebuild my credit as my snap on dealer was able to "force" a credit app and get me a new scanner. Hmmm maybe sell my old OTC Monitor ?
Might be able too huh?
Oh well if not I can wait for my food to spoil and sit in the dark,,,at least Iwould get a lot of sleep .
Sorry trying to put a fun spin till I get square.

PS Lawyer told me to make a list of passwords about 10 to 15 long and rotate names periodicly, and change the list quartarley.

It's not as much the length of passwords that make them difficult to crack, it would be the use of a few Cap's and numbers also.

BTW, lots of passwords are caught by use of a "keyboard logging" program. A hidden beast that's been planted in the users PC, usually because the user clicked on an attachment at some time, or on a pop-up window at some site.

Lee, be sure to have your PC checked out with a few good spyware programs like Lavasofts Ad-Aware, Spybot Search & Destroy and Hijack This.

You can also ask your lawyer about changing your social security number if it has been compromised. The keylogger, man I forgot about that... I'd check for that....

I know someone that had that happen to her. However, the difference was that she was being stalked by and ex. He actually broke into her apartment/dorm room, opened the keylogger and had everything she typed on her computer emailed to him. Scary.
