I've been running through my options for ECUs and I've come across one. It's along the lines of a megasquirt setup, but it does a lot more. its called vems (www.vems.hu (http://www.vems.hu)) The only issue I see is that it doesn't necessarily suppose dual widebands, only one for tuning. It has the capability, but noone has gotten around to updating the software and firmware. This means that in the future it most likely will get that feature.

But my simple question is do you really need dual wideband UEGOs?

I understand it's going to tell you if one bank is running learn compared to the other but aren't they close enough to where it isnt going to be a problem? My engine bay is pretty uniform in shape and size, so I would expect heat to be around the same from side to side. I'd be using a single plenum intake with an elbow. Probably upgrading to a turbo setup later down the road, but for a while it will run NA.

what if I had dual EGT's, would that make up for it?

I'm running a single WB on mine. It would be nice to know if the engine sides are the same, rather than assume it, but I don't worry about it.

I am doing the same as parsonsj, but the dual WBO2 controllers weren't available when I got mine, and I didn't install and 2nd bung in the other header. If I was doing it now I would go the dual route, as it's a cheap way to monitor the other bank and get an early indication of trouble, like a gasket problem, or injector issue.

One wideband is fine and you only use it as a reference guide anyway. Mostly Idle and part thtrottle. At WOT EGT's are critical info. I agree with the dual egt's. I will be running 2 EGT's on mine. All 8 data logged would be the cat$a$$.

Unless you have a terrible EFI intake/throttle body, you should be close bank to bank. If you aren't, that means you cylinder to cylinder isn't close and you are pretty much hosed anyhow. I've never seen cylinder to cylinder vary much more than 1 A/F point with EFI cylinder to cylinder. With carbs I've seen 10 points!

Make sure you have a good intake and then you don't have to worry about it.
