I took my kids Recaro car seat out of the car today to give it a good cleaning. As I was digging out raisins, Goldfish crackers, a super bouncie ball, and a Polly Pocket I thought about Baz and everyone else here I've heard mention thier kids.
Since the seat is a Recaro I figured you Pro-touring parents out there might perk your ears.
My wife wanted it because you can use it through all stages. You can use it when they come out of the rear facing seat all the way until they come out of boosters all together.
The seat is on the upper end of child seat prices but it has Recaro quality and isn't just a Chinese company that got a license from them just to use the name.
I believe you could actually save money because this seat transforms through all stages after the rear facing seat. Normally you would end up buying a couple seats because few of them are adaptive.
Little Em's Recaro is the Recaro Young Sport. It has the best Side Impact Protection System out there (most child car related deaths are side impact related), approved for aircraft use, and kids can use them up to 59" and 80 lbs.
I just wanted to spread the word onthis because it isn't just a kiddie seat with a name on it. It's the real deal.

Here is the link to the Recaro site, http://recaro.com/index.php?id=3329&L=2 .

Man, that's a super nice seat! I have the Simpson seat for my son, but they just put their label (and pricetag) on a Graco seat. However, I have NO complaints about the Graco! It's worked great for 3 years, and we bought my mom the same seat (without the Simpson label) for when she watches my son and has to cart him around on errands.

One final thought - You actually let your kids eat in the car?? My son (and everyone else in the family) knows not to eat in the vehicle, unless it's pretzels or water. :)

I don't have the 'cuda done yet but she will still be in the seat when it is and she won't be eating in that.
I still don't agree with her eating much in the Jetta but my wife let's her do anything.
I'm the enforcer but still I think she prefers me, I'm telling my wife it's gonna bite her in the azz ...

Funny I was just looking at these the other day. My question is, dont they sit up a little to straight up and down for a newborn? Most of the infant car seats are angled back to keep the babies head from falling forward.

Thanks for the info. I have been hounding my wife to find a nice used seat to buy for a spare. I was wanting the Simpson/Graco one because it doesn't seem as bulky. I am going to have it re-upolstered to match the other seats, either the wagon or the camaro. Thanks for the heads up and if you see a used one, let me know please!

JButler, this seat isn't for new borns, they have to be in a rear facing until they are 20lbs AND 1 year old. If they are under 20 lbs. and a year old they still have to be in the rear facing seat. It is a nationwide law. We had a stroller/rear facing seat combo. Most bigger strollers are like that, it was a Graco.
This Recaro is for 20-80 lb kids and they have to be at least 1 year old for a front facer. The seat adjusts in height and reclines so they can use it until they are out of boosters all together.
Kids have to be in boosters until they are 5'9" and 81 lbs or heavier.
You have to have a rear facer starting out, don't rush them into a front facer because thier heads will pop right off if you start playing bumper cars out there.
This seat does it all after that. We looked at the Simpsons too, that would have been my second choice, Yeah, it's just a Graco but it looks like the best Graco of all thier models.

go-fish, sorry I just re-read your post and saw that you were talking about a different seat. Recaro does have a seat that is convertable from a rear facing for infants over 5 lbs to a normal car seat for toddlers up to 70 lbs. They are called the Como and Signo seats.

My wife just gave our spare Graco child seat away. I got so pissed because she totally spaced the fact that I am building a Hot Rod that will need a kids seat from time to time.
