This stuff is crazy expensive. No wonder the cars are so pricey!
I was going to buy a NOS Camaro rear panel for Penny. Found on one eBay and was the top bidder at $295 for quite some time. Had to go out so I couldn't be home in the last hour of the auction. My mistake. I set my max bid to $452 and hoped for the best.
I was owned by the bidding. lol

Went for $585.01
I really needed this part, oh well.. anyone know where another is for sale?

NOS pricing is INSANE; so is the fact the the panels sometimes still require a lot of work to fit perfectly. Bid sniping is really annoying, too.

You want heart failure, try Jim at heartbeat City! He will have it but is not shy at all. Two things
One, the repo is not that bad actually, much better then the quarters
Two, esnipe.com. Esnipe will throw in a bid for you with 6 seconds to go, while your at dinner. I use it even when I am sitting in front of the computer to prevent me hitting the button only to find my modem needs reset!

It's nice to have good steel but in the 80's when we redid our '72 Chevelle the OEM fenders needed alot of work. We were told that much of the OEM stuff was 2nds from the assembly line. If it didn't fit right the first time, it went off to the warehouse.

Modem?? :throw: lol
Yea, I know about Heartbeat.. expensive, but he generally has it. Also, some people think he's an ass.
I will be using Goodmark quarters since I know they fit well. Heartbeat City makes panels but they are PRICY, especially considering they are new and not NOS.
I just wanted an NOS rear panel since I've never used an aftermarket one. Goodmark has a new "retooled" one coming out soon but not soon enough.
I will try the contracts you guys gave me.. thanks!

Consider yourself lucky, the only NOS tail panel I could find for my '69 Firebird was $1500, and no one makes a repro.
Heartbeat city is supposed to...but that hasn't happened yet.
I just used part of a Camaro panel since I only needed a section below the bumper.

I was refered to Gregg at Chevy Classic in San Diego for the part. (thier number is seven six zero-941-5232)
Gregg was a nice guy and had ONE NOS panel left in stock. I bought it up for $550 and he's going to even deliver it to BOS so I save shipping.
He also has a few other little parts I need.
Thanks to everyone else for the offers of help!

That would actually be a compliment for him. AntiChrist would be a better term. Stay away from that snake, Steve.
The OEM stuff is going to kill you. Goodmark is actually making some good repro stuff these days.
Boy I'll tell you....if I had known then what I know now I would have bought some extra panels back in the 80's when I was heading out to GM SPO with my Dad. We used to take rides out there to Flint and I'd buy a couple of body panels or what I needed for the Camaro. Through the years I acquired 2 full face quarters, 2 fenders, 2 wheelhouses, 2 rear outerwheels, upper, lower and rear valance panels, and 1 door skin. I found a reciept for my full face quarterpanels last year. With my Dad's GM discount back in 1987 I paid $80 a panel. They all came in boxes with a big "Geniune GM Parts" logo. DAMN....if I had only knew.:pat:

dont discredit a good used panel. i sold a perfect RS used panel for a fair price not long ago. it will take a little more work to trim all the old off but it was OEM and perfect.

Penny was to go on the frame rack today, but the shop is painting thier walls over the weekend and they were afraid of overspray.
The new date is Tuesday. It will take about two days then we start chopping off the old metal.
ETA to being done and back on the street is two months. ETA to doing another burn out is two months and one day ;)

Anything for Dusters by chance? I'm about to drop several pretty pennies on a pair of full OE panels from a yard..

My uncle is a body man and was fixing up his C10 several years back and told me the same thing, OEM GM/Ford/Chryco body parts are assembly line seconds so be careful.
Bad thing now is that thier are tiawan grabge parts too. Used to be they had a good rep but now you gotta watch who you buy from even if its domestic repop.

So your saying the 69 camaro quarters I bought in 1990 were assembly line rejects?
