It's a far-fetched question, but, I wanted to get opinions of the painters here. Can I put a clear over an Alkyd based paint?

I have a question in to Dupont since it's their Nason Chassis Black 422-05 paint. Their website doesn't give contact numbers and my local shop doesn't seem to be firing on all cylinders.

I used some light compound to remove some overspray on that frame and now I've lost that glossy finish. :) Painting is fun. :Alchy:

yes you can but hit it with some adhesion promoter ,you can get it at at most paint supply stores, it opens the pores of the paint so the new coat will stick. Be careful of the speed of the clears thinner as if its too slow the chassis black may craze or wrinkle.

Cant you just hit it with more of the same paint? Or just buff it with finer compound?
