Guys-

After many requests to the aftermarket for a brake system, one vendor has finally stepped up and produced a brake kit for our AFX spindle that can be used in a 15 inch wheel. We asked Baer, Wilwood, and SSBC to step up and help us out, but only SSBC responded.

Check their site for details:
www.ssbrakes.com

Scroll down to the new products, and take a look.

The kit is a 12" rotor with a 4 piston caliper. Great for street use, but not going to be ideal for road racing due to the rotor thickness.

SSBC did a fantastic job engineering this to fit our spindle, and they ended up stuffing 12 lbs of crap into a 5 lb bag.

We are excited to offer something for the sleeper/restmod crowd.

I haven't checked it out yet, but why would it be bad for road racing? I'll probably eventually step up to bigger wheels and brakes, but for now I'd like to keep thte wheels since I just got new tires recently.

Besides, I don't plan on doing any hard driving for at least another year until I graduate from school. I just need some disc brakes because stopping this beast from 70 mph with manual drums is quite scary! :drive2:

No second gen F bodies listed. If they use the right offset rotor(maybe a 2 piece hat/rotor) it might fit alot more factory type wheels than alot of the other lits out there also.

The associated brake system is for use with the AFX spindle.

So... if you use an AFX spindle on a second Gen... it will use the same kit for a C5/C6. It will not need a listing for a second Gen as it will be a listing for the spindle itself.

Looks nice! I'd like to see a side view (looking at the edge of the rotor) of this setup, basically checking how far the caliper sticks out from the face of the rotor for clearance to the back edge of the wheel spokes. Seems like a 4 piston caliper would stick out pretty far.

If they eventually do 2nd gens, I hope they test fit a 15" Z28 wheel - by all reports, the SSBC caliper that bolts right to the b-body spindle (12" 1LE rotor upgrade) does not fit. Just a note, htose wheels are tight fitters.
