She had a wreck at my home track awhile back. She's still recovering in the hospital.
We had a fund raiser race that raised $60,000. John Force even called and checked on her. Its amazing the response they have gotten from the race community.

Thanks for alerting us to this.
I raced Quarter Midgets out of Portland OR as a kid from the late 1970’s to the early 1980’s. I cannot remember the year, but a kid at a Bakersfield CA area track was killed while racing an alcohol Quarter Midget.
I know that the parents can fell a lot of guilt when something like this happens and it really does help the parents to know that the racing community is behind them.
I plan on getting my son racing in a few years in a Quarter Midget or JR Dragster. I would be devastated if he ever suffered a serious injury.
What can we do to help?

You can mail it to the address above (she is the secretary for the KDRA, Kentucky Drage Racers Alliance)
Again, I am looking for a paypal that you can donate to as well.
There are several threads here ,http://ovos.proboards3.com/index.cgi?board=Brack
with updates, talk about the benifit races, etc..

There is nothing wrong or inherintly unsafe with jr dragsters, this sounds like just an unfortunate accident. It also raises the need for more roll caging and bracing in them.
Dont get me wrong most Jrs are well built but there aresome pretty shady builders out there using thin mild steel instead of the heavier stuff. An old girl from high school day but not my HS that I am still in touch with well her hubby decided to upgrade his older daughters racing stuff and bought a supposedly new updated super tough/light weight frame so his younger daughter could race.Well they had a wreck (him and his boys) hauling it back home (fender bender only) and the frame hit the ground and BENT and had nary a scratch on it.
He had his battery sawsall in his truck(buisness truck) and cut it in two and it was VERY thin wall steel and a burnt up dull blade that wouldnt cut muffler pipe the day before ate this thing in like 2 seconds.
He went back to beat the crap out of the guy, well at least he called his wife to cancel the check and as he drove back up the guy was getting hauled away by cops!
I would say that this frame was built out tubing lighter than even conduit!
Anyway prayers going up.

Thats aweful, I thought the jr's would have to go through a pretty tough inspection, b/c the ones i've seen always look very well built. The only thing I could see to get rid of shadey builders is to make them do the NHRA roll cage inspection. Currently cars running 9.99 or quicker needs the sticker, its not cheap but def would help get rid of situations like you are descibing. with conduit you might as well be wrecking a go cart at 70mph :scared:

I got to see part of the frame last night,,,, what a piece of crap.
Beautiful tig welds, looked like perfect penetration , just a master piece but good Lord was the pipe thin and it was mild steel too.
I looked at the blade of his sawsall and couldnt believe it cut it but it did and that stuff WAS THIN!
I guess he was lucky he had it paid by check and lucky the guy was getting hauled away by cops cause he would have beat him unmercifully.
Again prayers going up
