Sounds like my 95 VW Passat, replacing the same part year after year.
How many times do you need to change the sway bar bushings, in a 30,000 mile period,

What is up with hi-end expensive cars? The manufactures have no reason to spend the engineering money to improve the quality because all the idiots with big $ keep buying the crap they are already building. Why spend money to improve quality when their already is a sometimes years long waiting list.

I've driven my 67 about ten miles in the past three years. The $/mile on this bomb would make the Ferrari guys' asses pucker up :):)

My buddy bought an older 308 (Magnum PI) The car was only 30k and seemed like a fun toy for the summer. The car overheated on the way to the beach. The shop though it might be a cracked head and quoted him 25k to replace the engine. Lucky it only turned out to be a bad electric fan for $1500.

I checked out an engine fire Diablo, clear title ,engine gone (V-8 swap!) but some of the body panels had been removed. A USED original front fender....$3k!! I just got worse from there...I passed!! The Lambos are nothing more than glorified kit cars anyway......hell the kit cars are prob better..cheaper to run anyway.

But imagine how expensive our cars would be maintance wise if every time we took them to a shop to have things done? One of our local customers had a 360 Modena (just sold it for the F430) and come time for the 1st oil change it was going to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $300. He said screw that, bought the oil filter from the dealer, bought some Mobil1 from the auto parts store and did it himself and saved about $225.
I could see going to get big service things done at the dealer, but changing out shocks, sway bar ends, tires, oil & filter change, I'd have to cheap out and do my self.

I think since their move to Germany, it sounds like fit, finish and overall performance has increased quite a bit.

Maybe but they (Ferraris and Lambos both) still burn to the ground quite a bit.

There is that, but wouldn't the constant threat of spontaneous explosion just ad to the excitement of driving one of these cars!?!
On a side note, have you seen the Discovery Channel's tour of the Ferrari Factory? Absolutely amazing - their foundry and engine assembly plant were awesome!

"pro touring" hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm let me just say that in an effort to not start a cat fight i own the original jeff smith articles regaurding the pro touring movement. money was an object, pick a part and memory lane were the parts bins so to speak. anyone remember the "goodwrench" quest motor? back in the days when steilo was a "baby" so to speak and nobody heard of the " tuckers" unless you are refering to the car built back in the 50/60's. personally? i think its gone out of control. you posted pics of ferraries. well yea. money talks so to speak. but unless your " invited" to buy a " super car" what good is it?" pro touring has gotten expensive and way the hell out of control. i can say this cause build them on a daily basis. i love these cars to death but just like real estate, the bottom will fall out. if it hasent allready. its time to look at alternative body styles and push the dare to be different envelope beyond cookie cutter cars that get lost in a car show.
Great pics, thanks for the hi-res versions!
