Well today was the day. After several months of researching local paint shops, finally selecting one and then waiting for an opening, I finally dropped the car off today.

No pics of the delivery, but it was a wonderful feeling getting the car up on the trailer and watching it roll away. I'm officially on the final leg of what has been my project starting back in 1999.

The shop doing the work is Auto Restorations in Greeley, Co. They came highly recomended to me, and have produced a number of show winning cars/trucks in the area.

They will be soda-blasting the car down to raw steel, priming, blocking, spraing and color sanding.

I'll have the duty of final assembly, except for a few fender trim items that need mounted before the fender's go back on.

The car is being sprayed in Toyota's Black Sand Mica.

So far the shop owners have been great to work with. I hope to be able to stop by every couple weeks to snap pictures of the progress.

Cool! Mine's in the shop too. It's a good feeling!

Still haven't decided on a color for mine, but leaning towards straight black. Once in awhile Carousel Red comes to mind...I have a Parchment interior in it.

Is that black sand mica used on FJ's? My buddy has that, slight metallic, looks sharp!

I know the color is used on some of Toyota's sedans, as well as on the Scion brand.

It wouldn't surprise me if it came on the FJ.

And yes, it's a black with a bit of metalic in it. Green, blue's and red flake.

Choise this particular color, because I just can't bring myself to tear in to the interior. THe car has that green interior in it, which isn't the best color, but it's in near perfect condition. Just needs a dash pad. The green metalic in the black will help tie the interior in a little better.
