Here is the in car video from one of my laps at RA a couple of weeks ago.

I apologize for the poor quality. The camera mount had a lot of vibration which I only discovered afterward.

Great footage! Your car runs well! What mph did you hit on the straights?

Things were happening faster than I am used to (I am usually in a Spec Miata at the track) so I did not look at the speedo a whole lot, especially going into turn 5 or 12. I did catch a glimpse of an indicated 155mph up the front straight not long before the brake markers.

Yeah, there is another spot when I came up on two C6s and it took them over a half a lap to move over and give me the required point by, probably out of disbelief. I did have a Viper SRT 10 guy come over and ask what I had under the hood. :hmm:

Jeff,

Excellent video, I'll have to ask my friend if he was passed by a bad a** red 67 Camaro, the blue C6 looks like his.

Still on leafs in the rear with DSE 3" drop springs and mini tub. Front is DSE coil over with DSE tubular upper and lowers. I had a fair bit of push in corners, but nowhere as much as when I had the iron big block in it. Need wider tires in front.

Very nice! It's got to be a thrill to run an "antique" and still go faster than modern sports cars. I'm hoping to do what you've already done with my current build.

What front accessory system are you running? It's one of the cleaner systems I've seen.

Nice Jeff. You have the car working well. The C5 has very good corner traction. In steady-state he was pulling you, and you would catch back up on the straights.

RA is fast!

Awesome vids, your car is insane! Hey I am pretty sure I saw your car in PHR or Camaro performers. Congrats on the ink! What a great car.

Sorry, I missed your post previously. The accessory drive is straight off of Wegner Motorsports' PRI display engine from a couple of years ago. DSE now sells a similar or identical system called Driver 1, I believe.

Rybar, it was in PHR last month, a full page in Hometown. If it was also in Camaro Performers, let me know, Steve mentioned something about it, but I didn't know if it was going to happen.

Jeff just re-read it in PHR. It looks like you made good on your comment of spanking the NSX and BMW guys at the track :drive:

My wife flopped a copy on both of the guy's desks when it came out (she works with them) and said "this means you". The BMW guy was upset he got lumped in with the other guy since the NSX owner was the guy who found "camaro mullet" on http://www.mulletsgalore.com

As soon as I get back from Power Tour and address a couple of issues on the car I plan to try and get out and stir up the euro crowd.

Thanks John. I still have a few issues to work out, but for the most part, I am happy with it. Engine seems almost too tempermental for crawling through the subdivision without having mothers pulling their children into the house. I am still wrestling with blowing it apart next winter and painting it or leaving it ugly so I'm not afraid to beat on it. You are a better man than I driving the hell out of your car when it looks so pretty.

Yup, just south of Milwaukee. Talking about coming to the cruise night in Gurnee on June 15.

I need to dig up some scratch and make it up there myself.

Looks like you have the car dialed in great Jeff. Are you going to some stickier tires anytime soon??

Those are Toyo RA1s, about the only other thing I could do is throw Hoosier race tires on it. Been thinking about another set of wheels for just that.

I run the Kumho V710's and have been wondering about the Toyo RA1's being comparable. Definitely get another set of tires and wheels for dedicated track events.

Great video, BTW, and awesome driving. It was as if I was there ...

I love your car ...

I don't know about awesome driving  , but I like to think that all the seat time in the Spec Miata has made me a better driver. The Toyos stick as much as the car will, and with 570+ HP I get very little wheelspin, and it is hard to get throttle oversteer. As far as street tires go, I will go with a little harder compound next time.

I have something up my sleeve as far as wheels for the race tires, I will post as soon as I can get it done.

Definitely keep me in the loop with this as there's not much available for 17's. Especially dedicated race rubber.

Thanks and glad you posted your link. I enjoyed it a lot.

Based on words of mouths among SV track junkies...

Supposedly V710 and Hoo hoo R6 (or last year's equivalent) are about the same, and a little bit faster than NT01, which is a bit faster/easier to drive than RA1s. It's safe to say RA1s aren't as fast as V710, especailly in unshaved form.

SV's John Wurth shaved 2 seconds at Laguna switching from V700 (not 710) to NT01 when he was still driving a T1 Z06.

I've only run RA1s and NT01, on different cars. I had a chance to finger-nail test Toyo's new 888. They felt like they are a bit softer than RA1s.

Not in its current configuration. It ran 11.90 at 118 with a less powerful and heavier big block. That was also on 10 year old slicks.
