I am trying to drill holes in aluminum round stock, but want to make sure that the holes are centered. How do you find the center of the round bar??

What sort of tools do you have for this operation?

On a lathe or just in general. I haven't done much maching in a while, but there are a few different ways to do it with a lathe depending on how accurate you need to be.

I'm trying to think of the best way to do it by hand or in a drill press. I'm not sure how accurate you could be by hand though?

Is the hole sideways? Or the "long" way?

Good question - I assumed he was drilling along the centerline of the rod not perpendicular to it.

Sideways, I am not drilling through the center longways. Say it is going to look like a drilled solid front axle on an old street rod.
