Im getting ready to add my intercooler and need a blowoff valve.. Procharger wants $400 for a blow off valve..

Where else can i get one that will work for my application up to 15psi.. that wont breakt the bank (procharger is allways high priced)

That is the race valve. The one you need is only a couple hundred. I'll get you a deal on it. Call me Monday and remind me

Thanks - Ron

I'm running a vortech bypass valve with my procharger.

How much did the vortech valve set you back?

vortech is only good to 10psi. I'm only running 7psi.

I got a.......turboxs RFL on mine I bought from a import dude here locally. RFL stands for Real F.... Loud, paid $100 for it used and works great. Import guys have some cool stuff for sale for cheap sometimes, when the next shiny thing comes out and they just have to have it!

Cool! I'll have to come over and check it out sometime. (if you dont mind) :)

With the supercharger you need a bypass, not a blowoff valve.

Procharger will work, as will Vortech. With the intercooler you will want plenty of flow to avoid compressor surge when snapping off the throttle as the intercooler means you have a much greater compressed volume to evacuate than non-intercooled.

I'm running 2 Procharger Pro-Flo's myself, I already had 1 Pro-Flo and didn't feel like shelling out $400+ for either a Procharger Race bypass or a big Vortech BV57. I'm still on the fence though regarding the response time of the butterfly style Pro-Flo's compared to a poppet-style Procharger Race or Vortech valve. My hunch is that the poppet-style valves have a faster response time but I haven't tested it yet.

The Procharger Pro-Flo's are in the $150 range, but at 15psi and intercooled my recommendation would be to use 2 of them. Once I added an intercooler I was getting some compressor surge with only 1 of them, the 1.5" diameter opening simply couldn't flow enough volume fast enough.

You might consider watching ebay to pick up a Vortech Mondo at a good deal, they're always on there at reasonable prices and will outflow a single Procharger Pro-Flo.

Hmm! Did not know that! What is the difference?

With a supercharger you want a valve that is open all the time while you are at light throttle; the supercharger is always spinning as a proportion of engine rpm and trying to move air. When you don't need the air that loads the supercharger, so you want the bypass to be open always under vacuum. The surge/bypass valve works solely off manifold vacuum. As long as there is some vacuum in the intake (usually 3-5 in/hg) it is open.

A blowoff valve only opens when it sees vacuum in the intake and pressure in the intake piping; it vents the compressed air in the intake piping when you close the throttle (which sends a vacuum signal to the diaphragm) and once the pressure in the intake piping has been dumped to minimize/stop compressor surge the blowoff valve closes. Since turbos aren't like a supercharger and spin as a function of load rather than RPM, when at light load they aren't spinning enough for air to "stack up" in the intake piping like it will with a supercharger.

If you try to run a blowoff on a centrifugally supercharged car, when at light cruise the valve will flutter open and close as pressure builds up in the intake pipe enough to open the blowoff, then it will close, then it will open again, etc. You get a really annoying fluttering sound at all times during cruise and are loading the supercharger unnecessarily.

it seems everyone posting here wants to stick with vortech or procharger. I don't see why? The tuner crowd was doing turbos and superchargers, at least in mass numbers, before us , and they have a lot of products to boot. companies like HKS, Greddy, and Blitz make Bypass and blowoff valves. I'm not a fan of the ricer/tuner crowd, but there's no reason not to use them for product development.

Well i was talking to ATI today asking them some questions, (they told me to mount it closest to the supercharger) and i just said screw it and ordered it from them.. (sorry frank) it was just a spur of the moment thing.. i just want to get it done and over with.. ($175)

I got a 3 inch tube with the bung all ready welded to it on ebay for a whopping $25 shipped.. Not too bad..

so far i have $150 in the intercooler, $165 in the plumbing, and $175 in the bypass valve.. Now we will see if it adds HP to my combo like ATI claims it will.. (not that i need it)

I have mine mounted between the intercooler and t.b. I think this is the way you want to do it.
