Hey There. New to this forum, name's Bryan I'm a 29 year old Realtor and I finally picked up the car of my dreams about 3 moths ago. 68 Camaro, only the 2nd owner, garaged since 68, 100k miles on the original 327. I really don't have much car experince besides looking at other peoples car's and wishing they were mine, but my girlfriends dad races up in OR and he has a big shop up there. I'm thinking of heading up there this Summer for a bit and getting started on this project.

Here's my initial plan: new crate engine and four barrell carb (Hopefully close to 400hp), caramic headers, tranny, rear end, suspension, duel exhaust, rims & tires, front & rear spoilers, bc cc paint. I'd like to do the whole thing with less that $20k. Is that unreasonable??

I'm open to any and all suggestions/opinions/advice. My plan is that this is going to be a "weekend warrior" car, although it would be pretty funny taking clients around in it. I know you guys know infinitely more about this stuff than I do so what do you think???

Thanks,

Bryan

Welcome Bryan,

My first peice of advice is stay the hell off this forum, a 400hp carbed small block will quickly turn into a twin turbo ls7 and your budget will gain another 0 haha.

I'm just kidding but just take it slow and do as much as possible yourself. I started my last build (also 68 camaro) with very little under my belt, not to mention being a 17 year old idiot, and it came out alright.

Good Luck,
Brian (also from norcal haha)

Welcome to the site. What part of NorCal are you from? And $20K is doable, but not with paint, usually. Unless the car is in perfect condition already metal-wise. Oh, and we look forward to torturing your wallet.

I just moved up to Marin from SF, which is good because I wouldn't have had a place to park the car in the city.

Marin?!?!?!?! That's horrible.... Oh well, to each their own. There's a bunch of us down here on the peninsula. If you ever wanted to hang out and get some bad ideas, let us know.

I might take you up on that. I have family in San Jose so I drive down there quite a bit. I'll drop you a line next time I'm heading down there.
