i wasnt sure if this was appropriate for the emergency thread...

Im puting in my seats and harnesess as we speak. The seats are the summit racing sport seats and the harness's i got are from RCI. The harness is a 5 point but the actual cam lock is attatched to the "crotch" belt. I didnt want to run a 5 point..only a 4 point, but now that the crotch belt is attatched to the harness...i kind of have to run it as a 5 point. My old simpson harness had the lock attatched to a lap belt, so I could get rid of the crotch belt. Here is the problem...my new seats have no provision for the crotch belt. It would have to just overlap the cushion...IS THAT OK?? I would rather not run a 5 point but if I have to I have to!! thoughts??

Does this car have a cage or a 6pt roll bar in it?

to answer your question...yes it has a 6 point roll bar in it. I figured out the problem...I returned the RCI belts (crappy if you ask me) and I ordered up a set of G-Force "Pro" belts. nice peices and the cam lock is attatched to the lap belt...so I dont have to run the crotch belt. Problem solved.

another safety question.....how far is your head supposed to be from the ceiling of the car? With my new seats and brackets...I am stupid close to the roof...any ideas??

you should have at least 4 inshec and even more is preferred because of roiom for a helmet. I say that 6 inches is more like the preferred min. You can custom fab some new seat bracket mounts to bring the seats down.

6 inches...i have no idea how i would do that with my current set up. back to the drawing board i guess. what do you use to mount seats?? i used the corbeau seat brackets...they fit really well but i guess they are a lil bit too high.

well. we tore out the floor and mounted the seats several inches lower than the stock location. Im 6'1" and im getting about 6 inches without head protection. The real only solution is to custom make mounts and possibly do some cutting into the floor. Then do some research to find a seat with a very low setup overall. These cars just dont have very much room, it becomes a problem for several of our customers who are rather bigger gentlemen.

No fiitting my a$$ in there then. The new Arizen seats are supposed to have a lower seat area, so you might try them.

I have had to make custom brackets before for some tall guys. Even went so far as to make them not adjustable once. The price you pay for being tall I guess (not me)!
