I have a second gen. Camaro with the Baer brakes touring set-up on the rear. At low speed with light pedal pressure the left rear moans like an old dump truck. Has anyone else had this problem? I know that it's harmonics and not really harming anything, but it sure is embarassing around town. Maybe different pads would help. Any suggestions? Baer says it's common with a straight axle car and wanted to sell me a dampening kit for $120.I think maybe a different pad would help, maybe ceramic instead of metallic.

I had Baers on my Silverado SS and I have them on my GTO. From my experience, they just don't get hot enough on the street to keep the pads bedded, resulting in noise. I found that once they got noisy, I had to rebed the pads with about 6 firm 60-30 stops, followed by 3 60-0 panic stops and then a long cooldown.

I agree with PT Goat, when my car sits for a while the brakes get a little loud and I have to re-bed the pads also.

I swapped mine for green stuff pads and got rid of 99% of the squeals. Just a slight squeal if you break lightly when cornering hard.

Mine were getting too hot from the emergency brake applying light brake pressure on the discs. A few blocks around the neighborhood was enough to heat them up and then the rears would moan like a cow. I had them readjusted.

I had the same problem with my rear Baer brake setup. I never got to the bottom of it, and that car has been off the road for a while. I think Baer suggested that same dampening kit to me. The noise seemed to only appear after driving for a while.
It was really annoying, and loud. It wasn't a brake squeek or squeel, it was a loud moan. I plan to swap the 9" with the Baer brakes into my '67 to replace the 10 bolt, and I fear I am going to have to deal with this noise again. If you get the problem solved, I'd love to hear what you did.
BTW, I removed the parking brake mechanisms from my rear calipers, so I know they were not the cause of the noise on my car.

RE-bedding as suggested above works for a while, not sure how long yet but it has so far.
