i have a 68 camaro and am thinking about a rear disc setup
i have heard of a cheap setup that uses 78-82 front disc calipers and a trans am rotor using a simple bracket that mounts on the back side of the axle tube
any one have any more info on this type of a conversion?
thanks

Steeltech brackets $100http://www.steeltechsolutions.com/REAR_DISC_PAGE_CODE.html
1980 malibu front calipers ($30 Both) and hoses ($22 both)
1968 Vette disc disc master. ($30) Napa prices
79 TA rotors ($80 for both)
There you go cheap and works. They are hard to bleed for some reason and you will need to add an adjustable prop valve ($35) and a residual check valve ($15) in he rear line.

That's what I'm running (80's Malibu fr calipers). They seem to work fine. I have 12" inch rotors from a 95 vette. I also added a Wilwood spot caliper on each side as an e-brake. Oh ya, I also mounted the calipers on the rear of the rotor on both sides as it nicely cleared the shock on the drivers side (68 Camaros have staggered shocks).

What brackets did you use to clear the vette rotors?

They are scratch built similar to the front which I used a template provided by PDQ67 (from Camaros.net).
The braclet is cut from 1/4" plate and bolts to the axle flange. To space the caliper correctly and provide adequate thread for the pins, I welded a solid spacer about 3/8" thick to the back side.
Here's the only pic that I have which shows the bracket.

If you'd like any further info, let me know and I'll do what I can.
