Local yard has a 4.0 Olds Aurora I can get for $250 they pull it and if I get it ready to pull I can get it for $175.
After driving a street rod powered by a 4.6 and man does that unit haul. He is running ART ShockWaves and that all steel rod was awesome.
The rpmability was unbelieveabilty and in a light car I am very curious how well it would do in my 3000lb Monza (well less since its an all aluminum V8).
Anyone think I am crazy?
I priced a 6.0L LS truck engine and they wanted $3800 for it and trans for a 187k engine,,,I DONT THINK SO!
I can set the Aurora set up for around $500-$750 and have found a trans adapter to run my TCI TH350 too.
Double over head cam all aluminum V8 anybody?

Thats pretty cheap on the 4.0 and way out of line on the 6.0. Check Car-part.com!!
I would be interested in how you are approching these things:
-Trans, since the northstar uses a 60 deg. v6 bellhousing pattern, you can use an old 2.8 s-10 style 700r4. or adapter?$$
-rear water crossover and water pump? Im sure there is some sandrail guys making parts? $$
-oil pan, the 4.0 needs alot of oil up top for the valvetrain but uses a full flat oil pan that holds 7.5 quarts
-exh manifolds, the right one wont work for sure
-accesories, alternator is pretty low on the left to fit in a Monza

Not trying to discorage you, its always fun to see or try new things, Im just interested in seeing your ways around these things. Good luck.
