you guys wanted to know what my car sounded like with the big "ricer style" mufflers on it, well here you go! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXFnvbxDNuM)
Still have a compression leak around #6 or #4 we're looking into it. Something is *still* puffing down there. :(
Scored these seats FREE today from the junk yard.
I need to fab some brackets up, (they get recovered when I do the interior.

Had a weird gremlin in my dash, but it turned out to be a ground wire was off. (those things sure can make stuff go haywire..)
the dashlights work! all but 1 bulb was blown out before!

That cars gonna be cool when done. My friend Tim Lee (of Don Lee Auto I use in many of my stories) is really into Corvairs and has a really fast one.
Nice work so far :)

Thanks Steve. You'd think in the age of pro-touring that there'd be more corvairs. 4 wheel independent suspension, light as a feather and CHEAP.

I think they're great cars also. I love the coy's look. I'll keep looking for the finished product. Great job so far!

Wow, that sound brings back memories! My oldest brother put a corvair in his VW camper in the late 70's,a great sleeper(both ways intended). He first had Hush Thrush mufflers then Cherry Bombs, ended up going with the Hush Thrush as they were less intrusive to the interior.Lots of fun riding shotgun...
Sounds great Tony and the seats have a good shape/form that will look "right" in your interior, good find!
Gonna be a cool ride

Those Supra seats? Would the head rest make them to tall??
TonyL

The headrests were lost at the shop. I found them in the "attic" over the office of the shop. The owner was going to use them in his street rod, but then forgot about them. He didn't even remember what they came out of. They have a Toyota look to them though.
It's funny how the flash on my camera makes the car look FILTHY. Eww. I have SO much work to do....
C'mon UPS with my fatmat!

Those seats look like Honda Prelude seats. I could be wrong though. I remember it being a popular swap not long ago. The progress is looking good Tony. Can't wait to see it on the road.

Corvair's have such great lines to them. I've always thought they were attractive cars. Should be a killer ride when done, Tony.

Is white not the original color? My Vair is on it's 3rd color going into its 4th.

its more of a butternut. Looks like it always has been, just different shades of it. The blue is only on this one panel.

wait, you're gonna re-cover those beauties?!

The seats? Oh yeah. they're filthy from sitting for years. They'll get covered in dark charcoal with a black leather "V" shape mimicking the stripe on the hood and sides.

I always loved the look of the second gen 'Vairs. One of Mr. Mitchell's best in my opinion. You know that BMW loved them too, yes? A lot of BMW designs had Corvair influences.
Lookin' good! I really like the paint scheme you've picked, should look killer!
Shiny Side Up!
