Anywhere from 3-7 degrees down would be a good place to start.Either wedge shims or reweld perches
Mean 69

The pinion angle on the differential should be equal, but opposite to the angle on the output shaft of the transmission for a street or road race car. A really good target is three degrees, much more than that can have a negative impact on the lifetime of the U-joints. If the angles are not similar, you can get some very nasty harmonic vibrations, which will also kill your U-joints.
The drag race guys will have a different story, I know many alter the pinion angle to get better bite, but this is not recommended by any means for a typical application (non-strip).
