Hi,

My dad and I both have camaros that need to be painted in the Houston area. Does anyone have a recommendation on where to get them painted?

Both cars will have all of the metal work done. They will need to be filled, blocked, primed and painted.

We are looking to do 2 stage paint and both cars will be drivers. A paintjob on par with a new car would be all we are looking for.

Thanks,
Chris

I am looking for the same thing . . . minus one camaro. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

SUN GOD Paint and Body 713-703-6948 in Pasandena TX works mostley on low riders, but they do some really nice work. Give them a call and set up an appointment to come by there shop.

I am going to have them paint my 72 firebird as soon as I get all my 89 GTA drive train installed.

You used to have a camaro first gen shop in the huston area think it was called camaro concepts there used to be the front of a first gen sticking out of the front of the shop above the door. They might be able to help.

Thanks. I will give Camaro Concepts a call. They are still in business on the west side of town. (Not to be confused with Camaro Country who is also in Houston.) Also, thanks G-Ride. The other recommendation I got from two independent sources was Ritchey Collision on Veterans Memorial in case anyone else is looking.

I have heard Richey all over the place too. I am supposed to be sending pics of my car to them tomorrow for an initial estimate.

Camaro Country doesn't do any in house painting. They farm all of their body work out.

Taylor - Did you mean Camaro CONCEPTS farms out all their paint & body? If so, thanks for saving me a phone call. Guess I need to call Richey as well. Camaro COUNTRY does paint and body on site but not the quality I am looking for.

Sorry... yes - Camaro Concepts farms out their work. I had my last car painted by the guy who used to do the work for Camaro Country (about 10 years ago). The guy - his name was alfredo did an amazing job. I have thought about looking him up. I see my old camaro around town once in a while and the paint still looks good

Another alternative is Todd Will of Crossroads Collision. His number is 281-468-3363. He has done 5 cars in our Firebird group including some collision repair on my 69. Does phenomenal metal work and paint is awesome.

I gave him a call. He said that he is booked up for the next 9 months or so.

There is a great place just down the street from our shop Hammerly and the Beltway. cant think of the name now but he is buildng a pt car and looks at this forum every now and again. he has done some touch up work on a few of our cars. Many people takes nice cars to him. He is a full body shop. Cant think of the owners name, but he is always there...

I have had three small shops quote my 68 camaro and all three came in right at $5000 for blocking, re-priming, fill, align, removal of doors and front clip, spray, color polish, and reassmeble front clip. There is very little body work needed and no rust. There is also no trim , glass, drivetrain, or wire in the car now. All three shops were in the Kemah / Dickinson area. Two used better quality clearcoat than the other. PM me if you are interested in contacts in that area. Unfortunately I will not paint until later this year when I finish the suspension mods.

I have had many quotes for around 5K as well. The 10K from Richey seemed pretty high - at $40 an hour shop labor rate you are looking at 200 hours of labor for blocking, sanding and final paint which seems pretty high.
