My buddy took these shots at the autocross we had at my school (Penn State) yesterday. It was a good turnout with about 70 cars. This was not my first autocross, but the first with the GN. It did pretty good for stock, but I've definetly got the bug worse than ever to make it handle better now! I hope the pictures work!

It is a good bug to have, but it costs a lot of money to scratch it seems. Glad you had fun. Car looks good.

Hey thanks! Yeah it's definetly a fun thing to do, but I can definetly see where it can get very expensive very quickly. I'm trying to keep it fairly simple for now and learn the car inside and out. I've had one other turbo Buick and a regular 85 Regal so I've driven these alot, but not like this, haha.

I figured I'd let you guys know the results since they finally posted them on the website, they had computer problems at the event so we didn't find out till today. There were 8 cars in F-stock and I managed to get 2nd place! I'm pretty pumped about that for being my first time out in the GN. An '04 GTO beat me by 1.2 seconds, but I managed to beat a bunch of Mustangs ranging from a '71 Mach One to an '05 GT, a '92 Camaro, and an '03 Crown Vic with the Police Interceptor package. It was a great day, and I'm pretty proud of myself too!

Congrats. A place likr that in a first outing makes the bug bite worse.

For sure! There's another autocross coming up on May 6th at the Lake Erie Speedway, so I'll be hitting that one too. That one is fun because they always make the course utilize the banked turns and the full infield (it's all paved) so it's really neat. It can get pretty high speed for an autocross too, so we'll see how the GN does the second time out!

Way to go man! Sounds like you had a blast, and beating 6 out of 7 opponents doesn't hurt either. I can't wait to get my pig out there and embarrass myself.

Just a quick question: are you leaving the trans in a certain gear or just drive? I have a B&M Megashifter, which lets me up or downshift without worrying about hitting the wrong gear or grinding into reverse. Still probably isn't the best for the tranny, but that thing's on it's way out anyway. I'm just wondering if it'll help out at all on the auto-x circuit. Depends mostly on the track though, I'm assuming.

When I tear around the twisties I usually stick it in 2nd. That gear is good from 30-90mph with my torque levels so no shifting for me.

I put it in 2, so it'll start in 1st and spend most of it's time in 2nd. There was a little bit of a straight in the back side of the course where I could make it drop to 1st again, but the majority of the time was in 2nd. Having an auto probably isn't the optimum thing for autocross, but my GN (obviously) and my Lancer that I've run before are both autos, I just like it better. Plus it really messes with people when they get beat by an auto, haha. But most course I've run have been well suited for leaving it in first and second, never really get to third since most courses are fairly tight.
