Well Ijust finished my suspension last night and took some pics. I installed eibach sb springs, sc&c stage 2 plus, rebuilt lower arms with poly bushings, and edelbrock adj. upper rear arms. The rest of my suspension is edelbrock lower rear arms, edelbrock shocks, 7/8 rear bar, 1-1/4 front bar and edelbrock tie rod sleeves. All I have to say is wow! The springs and stage 2 kit made this car work good. I haven't had it aligned yet, but I know I have it close to perfect. My car is really low now, almost to low I think. I have 3" of clearence from header tube to ground and 2.5" from collector. I've scrape them twice already. I'm posting some pics of the install, before shot and after pics. I had to grind down the gusset on the frame for the arms, all in all this was an easy upgrade. Let me know what you guys think. Should I rasie the front .5" or leave it alone, if I raise it could I just shim the spring?

Looks great!! Just talked to Mark and few days ago. I'm getting ready for the same stuff on my Olds. As for the height I would leave the front and drop the back another inch or so.

Looks great!!!! I'm about to do the same thing on my 70 lemans sport convert. I'm having alot of trouble deciding what to go with ,I'm leanning toward BMR front just because I like the look and they have a good package $$ . I just got a price for a 12 bolt moser from gp store (good $$) but I,m thinking I should do the front first and I can't do both right now. What spindles do you have???
The height is great. If you need to change anything, change the exhaust.

I really like the look but these new england roads and driveways make it impossible to drive it. I measured today and I have 26-1/4" from ground to rear wheel well trim and 24-3/4 in the front. Raceman I'm using my stock spindles, I highly recomend the sc+c front, I ordered wilwood 13" fronts and 12" from the gpstore and will be putting them on soon (when I get them.)

Looks great - almost the same setup I have in my '65. Mine is also bordering on too low, and I don't even have the front sheetmetal or AC installed yet. I've got about 3"-4" at the downpipes, but even less for my electric cutouts. I was only expecting to go down about 2" between the tall ball joints and springs, but it's closer to 5" already without all of the weight in place.

I drove it this weekend and so far I scraped the header tubes a very little at the end of the driveway and I was doing 60mph in a 50mph zone, hit a dip with a bump and flatened the collector 3-bolt flange. I'm scared to get on it on the back roads because there are a lot of dips there.

Looks great! If you`d like to loose a little of that drop you can install a set of Energy Suspension upper spring isolators PN# 9.6101 and they`ll give you between 5/8" and 3/4" of height back. Personally I like it the way it is though. :) If you want to keep that ride height and minimize bottoming out you can either go to shocks with more compression dampening (what are you running now?) and or a set of GM ZQ8 LCA progressive rate jounce bumpers (bumpstops) PN#15989674 (1st design) or PN#15956547 (2nd design). They work great, very progressive, they don`t contribute much if any rebound rate after they`ve been compressed and they`re a direct bolt on. Mark SC&C

Yea I'm running stock edelbrock IAS shocks, not the best choice. I'm going to get the isolators and bumpstops I think.

I could be completely off here, but I just noticed this pic. I installed my Howe ball joints on top of the SPC/SC&C arm, which I believe is the way that the factory arms are setup. Yours are installed underneath, and I'm not sure whether that would make the car lower or higher (I'm thinking lower), but I'm sure it's affecting the ride height. It could possibly be a safety issue as well, I'm just not sure.

I asked Marc about that and he said that its fine like that and shouldn't effect ride height. I measured my car last night and it was 26" to fender lip in the rear and 24" to fender lip in front. So I bought a 5/8" thick isolator part# 9.6120 (which should raise the car 1") and the zq8 bumpstops. Hopefully I'll have them in this weekend.

Glad to hear. Mind if I ask where you ordered the isolators and bumpstops?

I ordered the isolators from summit and the bumpstops from a gm dealership, I ordered the 2nd design. Hopefully I'll put them on tonight.

Here's some pics of the final ride height. Its not as low as some people like but its nice to be able to drive with out worry. I also installed the zq8 bumpstops which work really well. I bought the 5/8 spacer and it didn't exactally bolt it but I madethemwork. I had to section 1" out of the spacer to fit it into the spring. I also had to make new upper spring perches. I made steel half circles angled in and welded them in place of the fold down tabs. Next on my list is a lee steering box or agr not sure which yet, and install my brakes.

Just a quick note on the later style round (#15956547) bumpstops mentioned above - I installed them on my '65 GTO last night and they contact both the spring and the tie rod, due to their shape. From the pics I have seen, the earlier style (#15989674) are rectangular, like the factory bumpstops. I'm going to try a set of those today and see if they clear.
I installed the Energy Suspension upper spring isolators (PN# 9.6101 - Toyota RAV4) at the same time. They are about 1/2" too large, so I sliced them and tie-wrapped them to the spring to hold them in place during installation. Slicing them allowed them to fit without having to be sectioned, and the piece which overlaps actually fits very snugly under the end of the spring, helping hold it in place. I also liberally greased the spacer to keep it quiet. Looks like about 1/2-3/4" increase in ride height, just what I'm looking for.

Besides the shape is there other differences such as material or height? Is one more progressive? I've been looking for something like this for a long time. The Fitch Firebirds used extra tall progressive bumpstops to keep from using harsh springs, yet when corner hard get a little extra support. I'd like to try it. Thanks.

The round second design are slightly taller and firmer. Both designs are progressive but the 1st design is probably more so. The round ones some times require a bit of grinding to the metal base to clear the coil springs and such but it`s usually minor. The 1st design has no clearance issues at all that I`ve ever run into though. We`ve used both with great success over the years. They hold up really well too even on lowered cars. Mark SC&C

Thanks Mark. Hopefully they will fit my DSE arms (sorry this was before your stuff was available).
poncho, sorry for stepping on your thread. Sweet ride! I had the same problem. Cut out a coil and the header flange would scrape going in and out of the driveway. No way to fix with bumpers since the suspension was hardly compressing at that point. Luckily my coils were only $60 so I tossed in a new set (beat cutting up a $400 pair of headers). Another trick I thought of is to go with larger diameter wheels/tires. Makes the car look even lower to, but only makes sense if you're already planning to upgrade (looks like yours are new just like mine were).

amcmike thanks for the compliment. Just to give a little update I have the the second design and they fit good, I think they just clear the spring. My car just touchs the bumpstops at normal ride height. I'm installing dougs 1-3/4 headers (for a chevelle) and 3" oval x-pipe. These headers are alot closer to the floor, I think I might have gained almost an 1" of clearence.

Mark is right - I think the round ones will clear with a little grinding, I was just hoping to try the earlier style to see if they cleared before resorting to the grinder. But both my local dealer and GM parts direct have replaced the earlier PN with the later round style, so I'm not sure you can even get the rectangular ones anymore.

The first design are getting harder to find. Anyone who`s interested,if you can find them grab em while you can. For $10 ea. it`s worth having a few spare sets. Mark SC&C

OK guys if you dont mid cutting off the collector flanges you can hit a truck shop or napa and get a flat band clamp for truck exhaust put some Ultra Copper silicone on the pipe/header collector, Orient the bolts to the side and gain a little clearance.

hey i noticed in one of your pics the rear pocket of the lower control arm was welded did you do this or was it a repair?

ms2634 My car handles really good and the steering box is awesome. Punisher are you referring to the perch that holds the control arm in? If so yeah I welded it up, I went over every factory weld and welded everything that I could when I had the frame off.
