View Full Version : Custom brake hoses?

After a great deal of effort trying to get a set of factory rear brake hoses that would have been used with my versailles rear disk brakes, it has become abundantly clear to me that there are none available, anywhere. I was going to get the factory ones so that I could use them as a template for having someone create my stainless braided hoses.

Should it be possible for someone to make a custom brake hose if they have the caliper to work off of? I say "should" because it seems like they may be saying they need the factory hose just because it's easier that way.

Earls has a variety of hose adapters (ends) to work with -3 hose. Go to holley.com, look through the Earls line under brake parts

Ok, I haven't talked to them yet so I'll give them a ring.

Frank, I'm a little hesitant to try and figure out which end I need on the hose for the caliper just by looking online. I'll be the first to admit, this custom brake stuff is new to me and I just don't know what to look for? what's important about fit? etc. etc. At this point, I had planned on mailing someone smarter than me my caliper and having them figure out what the hose needs to be...hahah..I have so much to learn :hammer:

Autozone's website shows Lincoln Versailles hoses for 1978. Does this picture help? My Mark IV rear had siilar looking hoses. If you look closely, there is a pin on the banjo fitting that keeps the hose from rotating. I don't know how common something like that may be on an aftermarket SS hose.

Bret, I've ordered 3 sets from online sources including autozone that say they have them on hand and after 4 or 5 days of waiting for them to show up they say, oh yeah, those are out of stock, we don't plan on getting any more. Sorry :wedgie:

I'll give you a call today Mike

Yeah, I think a picture will help, thanks for that. I wonder if that pin and the purpose it serves would even be necessary?

I think after this is done I will recommend that whoever makes them for me should carry them as an item, because it seems a lot of the mustang guys do this swap and would need these hoses too.
