View Full Version : Proper way to use a template?

I printed out the template for the Touring Classic C5 brakes and it had a scale that was 3" one way and 5" another, and the instructions said to be sure that both of those were true because that's what the rest of the measurements went off of. So I got out a ruler and measured, and they weren't true. I forget what they were as I don't remember where the template is, but I think they were around a half inch short both ways. I factored that into my measurements (or tried to), but I want to be absolutely sure that these will clear the wheels before I buy them.

So how would I go about making the template the right size? Any ideas?

Try re-sizing it in photoshop until it prints correctly. Then glue it to cardbaord, cut it out, and measure.

Just select "NONE" in the scaling option of the print dialog box that pops up when you print. I just checked it, the 3" is exact, but the 5" is short by about 1/64".

Thanks guys. I set scaling to none and it fixed it. Looks like everything will fit inside the diameter of the wheel, but there's a ridge/lip that hangs down and hits the calipers. i'd need a spacer or adapter that's around 1-1.25" thick, so I guess it's not worth it. Ah well.
