buying used cell phones

I need some info on this. I currently have a nokia 3585i through Alltel, but it's old and the battery is not holding out very well. I really like this phone. It gets great reception when others don't. So obviously I could try and find the same phone, but could I do better? Better for me only means getting reception. I do not care about camera phones. I do not text nor do I surf. I simply use my phone to make and take phone calls. What a concept. Yeah, I know I'm old school. I'm actually not interested in a flip phone unless it can get reception as good as this one. So far, I have yet to see a flip phone get reception when I couldn't. Oh and a vibrate only mode would be nice since this one doesn't have that feature appearently.

The other things I need to know are how do I know which phones I can get? Do I need to look for an alltel one or will any unlocked phone work? How do I know if it's digital or analog or both? These questions are in case I try and venture out and get a different model. I am partial to Nokia though, they seem to be great phones.

Any explaining would be greatly appreciated as I am cell phone dumb really.

I personally wouldn't recommend buying a used phone.
You have absolutely NO idea how it's been treated.
I would call your service provider and ask them what phone is best for your needs. :smoke:

true. I was gonna try and find a new in box old style phone really.

Maybe I'm missing something, but why not just get a new battery? Usually Batteries Plus has them or order on the internet. Most only cost about $30. Quick internet search also showed that your phone should have a vibrate feature.

hmmmm I've never been able to get it to vibrate except for when it rings with sound. Silent is silent on this thing.

I do need to check into the battery thing though. That's a good point.
